I have been buying and selling for 3 years on a few sites. I must say it has been refreshing to PM with so many people and make so many good deals.
I wanted to tell you of the other side of EE life. It has made me a bit of an outcast with friends and relatives. Most think a gun is part of the family and never to be sold. I have sold some before it got to my house from the previous owner. Some I have never shot and some shot a few times. A few I will keep forever, like my 94 Win in 7-30 Waters.
I have learned a lot from seeing all these different guns and I love to see the differences in models.
I was not prepared for being an outcast. Friends ask me why I bought a gun and then look at me funny when I say 'to sell it'. I have bought beaters to fix and new ones to use to work a deal on something else. I need help.
My wife is one of the worst for not getting it. I usually get a look and 'What this time' when a new box shows up. She figures my excitement for a new gun should last as long as our marriage. Then she wants to know its for sale as she figures a bursting safe is enough guns for me. Don't get her wrong she has a few too. A shotgun and a rifle that she will never sell and could care less about most times.
I have no 12 step program.
I see an end to my wheeling and dealing just for a while because I can quit any time I want. If it makes life easier for everyone else. No more heads shaking at me. And maybe then I could go shoot a few guns and see what that side of the sport is like. I used to be normal. I think...

I have bought 4 guns since the new year!

I have sold 2.

Traded one for another.

I have also sold 2 scopes, and several parts.

I als traded stocks here as well.

All of this in the last month and most in the last couple weeks.

Financially I am no worse off, but like you my GF thinks I have a problem.

My freinds just think its funny more than anything.

My opinion is I am young and just starting to save for a house and expecting a family in the next few years so I am gonna do all my buying and selling now. I want to try everything and figure out what I like so that when I am married with a wife and kids I can focus on them.

My GF likes to hear that and it tends to smooth things over.

I'm lucky hehehehe my "presents to self" arrive right along with all of my client's incoming rifle boxes...... wife sees the rifle cabinets filling up and just figures it's all buiness related...... little does she know mruhahahaha

The EE etc.

I am trying to sell off what I can to only have a minimum of long guns left when I am gone. But, as we all know, it is sometime easier to accept another LG in part payment of making an EE deal. Problem is wife only counts guns, not the investment in $$$. cou:

As one of my friend says, your problem started when you left a house and moved into a condo - you have no basement window to sneak them in!

:agree:

Oh Oh I must be in trouble sitting here waiting for my first to arrive. First from EE I only own 14 rifles. whats one more.

We're all in the same boat.

At least a handful of times in the last three years I've had 3-5 rifles in the mail to me at one time from different sources.

I thought I was all done, and was actually purposely starting to trade and sell off a few extras to thin out the herd and focus on fewer calibers...

Since Christmas I bought three rifles, traded away one for another, and sold one more...

But I really, really, am going to thin the herd and pare away a couple of calibers, really...

We're called Canadian Gun Nutz for a reason...:p

As long as your bills are paid and your family is taken care of WGAF what anyone else thinks or says...

You could be doing alot worse things with your spare time and $$$....

Crack and whores don't bring in the same enjoyment:p
My wife is great, she doesn't bat an eye at the cardboard boxes in the basement and the steel security gate on my gun room. She has her horses, I have my "pets" too!

My wife keeps quiet about my gun purchases. She save the fight for when I buy stuff for my car. Now that's pricey. Guns are cheap.

The only "bad side of the EE" is that stupid SPF thing that seems to be on top of every gun ad I'm interested in.......

Always a day late and a dollar short.......:p

My wife has given up...we now have a strict don't ask don't tell policy:D
