After calling DNR about an issue I had a few years back I will NEVER voluntarily call them again. They completely lack common sense or the ability to look at the big picture. Someone had set up an illegal trapping operation on my property ( coyote snares ) which they had illegally baited with deer . My dogs had gotten caught in the snares TWICE. One of the set up's was less then 30 meters from my camp...BUT off of my property. DNR gave me trouble for removing the snars..AND since one the deer was not on my property they would NOT remove it.....since my dogs kept trying to get at the deer I asked If I could remove it and they said NO....it would be against regulations for me to touch the deer??
In short they made ME feel I had done something wrong for removing the set up on my land and their refusal to remove the deer carcass was strange to me.
The best part is that my dog was trapped late afternoon an a Saturday....they told my wife to deal with it...and that since it was late...and since they have to get overtime to work Sunday...they will be out Monday to have a look??
Call the DNR at your own risk...they are pretty much useless around here and they seem to be more interested in finding fault with your sitiuation then helping you out
