FNC1 poster

Dudes, we must relax. I've never indicated this was done as a money making venture. Nor is it a charity project. This is simply to hang on my office wall, with my other posters and various memorabilia.

Fixed it for you ...lol.....keep up the good work...:p

Koldt,

It's a fine job. You've got, I think, probably the most complete set of FNC1 gear in the country.

I'm happy with the rifle....I'd love to have half the gear.

My C1 is pretty sparse...

Is there space to include NSN's for the items? Do you have/need them?

NS

I don't know if they will fit, but I'd like to try. PM them to me and I'll give it a try, post it, and see if it works.

I'm thinking though, do them all or nothing, if we can't find the NSN for every item.

I'm in on the poster

Please PM me and let me know about cost of poster as I need to get 2 of these. It sure brought back great memories of my SA Coaching course in Borden ... oh those years ago, when we were young and foolish.

If you ever do an SMG poster please let me know.

Lovely piece and a great poster.

I've got a C1 SMG, but there isn't a lot of accessories to go with it. At least not so much to make a poster. I took a CF armorer's poster of the SMG, with an exploded view and named parts, and I had it hard mounted. Looks good.

A poster of SMG stuff would be pretty bare.

Maybe one with the SMG and pistol someday. Maybe.

Again, I ain't doing this to sell. Just playing around with my camera, toys, and the computer. Spending a LOT of time, but it's my therapy the doctor recommended:evil:

You're also missing the mythological grenade throwing adapter and the grenade front sight. I once had a WO tell me he actually saw one once.

Ohh, and the pull through and oil bottle that fits in the butt.

Really nicely done poster though. I bet there are a lot of old GNutz like me looking at it longingly.

It ain't mythological, since I actually own one. (and the oil bottle and pullthrough too). I suspect that the Grenade launchers were "too cool" to issue, and the QM kept them in a special box in the back room to drool over ("preciousss.."). That and if he ever issued it, he would have to account for it and include it in his D.A. audit and that would never do!

Plug: "I need a ___________".

QM: "I have one here on the shelf, oh, wait, its the last one, I can't give it to you."

Plug: "Why not?"

QM: "Because then I would be out of stock".

(Plug bangs head on counter before leaving).

P.S. Poster is awesome!!!!

Without a word of a lie, I've had that exact conversation, pretty much word for word, with a stores clerk before over a gas mask once.

I'm talking about the sheet metal tail piece you attach to the actual grenade that was never seen. Remember the old HCL smoke grenades with the cylindrical sides and the rounded bottom. They were designed to fit into the grenade launching fin adapter that then slid over the adapter/front sight. Here's a photo from someone else's Photobucket gallery:

I remember reading the old C1 manual where it talked about using the grenade launcher. Turn the gas plug around, load one round of the launching ammo (think really really really big blank round), put the butt of the rifle on the ground, pull the pin on the grenade, sit the rifle at an angle and pull the trigger. I can always remember the description that if the adapter fails and the grenade safety leaver flies off, the drill was to throw the entire rifle as far as you could and hit the ground. Man would I love to see the look on the QM's face when trying to return that rifle to stores. Bet they'd still make you clean the damn thing first. ;)

And you're quite right, the poster is awesome.

That was the C33 balistite round. Marked with a black tip so as not to be confused with a blank. It was a bit shorter too. There is a pic in the Korea drill hall in Petawawa of troops firing the smoke grenades from their rifles.

If you ever have the urge to do a C2, let me know. A friend has a mint, new issue one that just sits in the safe. He has the 12[1]?, but can't even transport it to a range.

12(2) = FA
12(3) = CA
12(4) = Small group of SA Prohibs (Steyr AUG, Uzi, etc)
12(5) = Largest group of SA Prohib rifles
12(6) = Prohib Pistols (106mm bbl, .25, .32)
12(7) = Inherited Prohib Pistols

And TBA:
12.8 All semi automatic firearms (police chiefs association are asking for this now)
12.9 All firearms
12.10 will not be required, except to possibly control toy guns and dewats.

the TBA 12.8 (hope it never happens) reminds me of the attitude of the Baltimore Police Commissioner in the HBO series 'The Wire' and his ComStat approach to fighting crime. Ignore reality and present 'facts' to back up your 'success'.

Ban all semi autos from the ownership of law abiding citizens. Statistics will show large numbers of weapons turned over for destruction (taken from law abiding citizens of course). All the crimminals will dutifully surrender their AKs, smgs, semi auto pistols - sure.

Go ahead, pat yourselves on the back Police Chiefs... Iggy and the Liberals will just suck it up.

What a crock!

That one really made me laugh. Takes me back to some of my own dealings with QM stores!

Well, got it back from the printer. It makes a 28" X 12" size. I'm trying to figure out if it should be hard mounted or framed like these:

As above, I took the armourer's SMG poster and hard mounted it, as well as the Diemaco fold out thing. The M4 poster I bought the way it is at last years gun show, with the glassed frame.
The hard mounts are edged with a green (naturally) border.

My FNC1 poster actually is clearer than the commercial M4 poster. You can read all of the manufacturer's labels as well as the contents paper in the .22 kit.

So the question is, glass and framed, or hard mount?

P.S. Couldn't be happier with the way it turned out!
