A recently retired gunsmith e-mailed me a list of Enfield parts he wants to sell me. If anyone here can give me a ballpark value for this lot it would be of great help. Although I am not sure I have use for many of these parts in my shop as I haven`t replaced many on that list before, Enfields parts not being notorious for breaking. This lot might be better used by someone who restores Milsurps.

Any ways, here's the list in question:

Tough to say. I would be comfortable pricing probably half of that, but when sold as individual parts. In a lot, it's different.

I know I'd be happy to buy a part or two from you if you get the lot though ;)

A lot would depend on the condition of the pieces being sold.

Are they in new/unissued condition, or were they taken off of used guns before they were parted out?

I spoke with the seller this morning and he mentions about 50% of the parts are new and non-issued and the rest are used but good, serviceable condition. I made an appointment to go see this lot on the 27th of this month. If it works out, I'll keep a few parts I need for the occasional Enfield repair job and sell the rest on the EE to those who restore these rifles.

These parts in vgood cond. are going for:
Metal screws each $2
Shims, 50 will last you a few life times, I know. .003 -.005" each $5
Tguards or T mech parts, extractors, extractor springs, foresight and rear sight parts, stock bolts are each $5-$10
Handguards #4 firing pin #4, all buttstock wood,#1 rear sight, bands and even swivels $20. #1 handguards usually more. The most valuable are complete bolts, #2 or 3 bolt heads on #4's. .037-.041" on #1's, and forestocks undamaged, barrels 25.2", These can go for up to 100.
7.62 and .22 parts are usually more sometimes much more. Good luck.

Those are the parts needed to de-sporterize the average .303 hunting rifle. Added up and sold as a package, I'd say $150 a set.

Ok, I'm back with the lot. I think it was worth it. I have to check everything out and sort it out. There was a bit more than listed, some of the stuff looks un-issued and packed in some sort of dry sticky grease, maybe old cosmoline. These included forestock hardware, swivels and extractors. Also a mixture of used and new bolt heads (0 through 3, mostly one's and two's). Some of the stuff was mislabelled or misnamed such as "bolt handles" that turned out to be what seems new un-issued bolts (stripped). By the way, is it normal that bolts that look un-issued would have serial #'s or was there such a thing as re-finished parts?
The No.7 stuff is interesting also, especially the rear micrometer sights. Also a couple of front target sight blocks for the No.4. Lots of rear micrometer sights for the No.4, some of which i wasn't familiar with, maybe aftermarket?
I have to ID the wood because it seems to be a mix of No.1 and No.4 fore-end wood, mostly front and rear handguards, some with the grooves and some smooth. Some of the wood seems un-issued. Also a bolt dis-assembly tool and other bonus goodies not on the list.

I'll post up pics tomorrow night when I start sorting.

For those who asked for pics, maybe you can help with some of the identification of the parts.
The pics show all the wood but only a fraction of the metal parts.

The longer handguard is for what model ?
What model do the grooved (striped) one belong to ?
The shorter ones with the sight slots are for the #1 mk.III ?
Do those marks on the fore-arm mean it's a Long Branch ?

Enfieldparts016.jpg

All three trigger guards are different, middle one is LB but shorter than others and all have a different shape in the front action screw area, do they belong to different models ?

Enfieldparts019.jpg

The two middle sights in bottom row stamped Mk.III are from what ?
And I know the sight to their right is not from an Enfield, have you ever seen one before ?

And some of the extra stuff thrown in (middle swivels, tool and buttplates) By the way, what are those buttplates from ?

Thanks to all for the help.

Sights marked Mark 3 are no 4 mk1* sights Think they were the last war time style manufactured.Think the far right is for a No 7 (but don't quote me)
