M1 Garand Price Now Hits 4 Digits?

i bought a Garand a couple months ago for 900, i am no expert, but i thought that was a reasonable price, given what i see them going for in Canada......now in two months it has more then doubled in price.....i think ppl are trying to drive the prices up with fake ads.....or think we are all suckers

my money's on a a Garand joke repartee, to further illustrate the point...

Tho' if there was really a No4 worth that, I'D cross the street to get a better look, oh yeah

Yea,ArtyMan I just don't know.....I did choke on my coffee when I saw $4200. Sweet rifle{aka english scrap iron, Tony:p} but I think a joke is afoot!
Coyote Ugly....Full Metal Jacket...fantastic movie, thanks for a reminder to watch it again!and again!

After another look at the rifle a question; Why wouldn't the cheek riser be made of dark walnut like the rest of the stock? and why is it ambidextrous?

Don't mean to hijack the thread, but has anyone/everyone else seen the No4T on EE for over $4000? I know their on the rare side of Lee Enfields but WOW are they really worth that or is this another Garand joke?........Plinker's confused:D

In a word yes. Assuming it's all correct, in a matching transit chest with it's matched scope tin and has at least the correct sling and scope covers. By correct I mean all the proper stamps in the accepted areas and the serial numbers matched where they should be. it wouldn't hurt if the bore is VG to EX and the overall condition of the rifle is about the same. Assuming these criteria can be met $4000.00 to $5000.00 is the current going rate. A Long Branch "T" in the above condition could be counted on to bring a fair bit more.
IMHO the one currently listed on the EE belongs in the $2500.00 to $3200.00 range. just my 2 cents.

M1s hitting $1000 reminds me of an event years ago when No5 Lee Enfields were going for $350 to $400. When the price was at its highest point a large number of them showed up for around $99 to $150. This could happen with M1 rifles. The price of ARs has decreased a bit with the influx of Economy Chinese M4s.
Just wait for another shipment of M1s to come in at reasonable prices they made millions of M1 rifles and M1 carbines. If the price of an item like the M1 is inflated more will show up but in small numbers to keep the price at that price.
Someone mentioned the Korean M1 rifles earlier, and brings up a something else. If we don't get the rifles how about the ammo, spare parts (including stocks), and bayonets. They are just clubs if thay don't have ammo and spare parts.
Cheaper ammo would make the M1s, fun to take to the range. By taking it off their hands we could also point out it would free up some storage space for the Koreans.

It seems the reservoirs of available Garands/Carbines/Springfields is about dry. The last big releases were from Denmark and Greece (US CMP only). There are a pee-pot full in both the Phillipines and Korea, but I doubt they will ever make it here.

Small arms control is a big issue at the UN and I think that emerging countries like Korea and the Phillipines would much prefer to garner the international profile which would come from demilitarizing/destroying their stocks of these versus the rather small revenues to be gained by selling them intact. The UN Sec Gen is a Korean which would influence the destruction option.

I don't know, I have a 54 IH Garand and I have been switching out parts to make all IH including an original IH stock set which is gorgeous. I don't think I'd ever sell it but If I did it would be for some big bucks. I think guys do the big buck adverts hoping no one will buy them :)

Oh wow so you're putting together a fake then eh? I've thought about doing that too with my IH and Win but then I thought that just by doing that doesn't make it any better from reading some of the posts from the guys "in the know" around here and on other sites, your just basically wasting your time and oh yeah Uncut oprods go for 120 - 150 in the states. so they don't really increase the value of Garands by $800 let alone the price difference with selling the old one

No I'm doing it for myself, they are all put togethers anyway might as well have them all from the same company. Everytime I think of selling it I talk myself out of it. :)
