There are 6 kel-tec dealers in Canada so far and one of the stipulations of selling them is that they all sell them for the same price of $2400.00. If someone here purchased one for more, they got screwed... Unless they meant $2700.00 taxes in.

Isn't that called price fixing?

Not neccessarily. The retailers most likely are all paying the same wholesale and to stay competitive charge the same retail. If some have to pay more for shipping etc they may be eating the additional costs to stay competitive with other retailers.
I would just price mine 100$ less than the competition..... you eat 100$ in costs, but benefit by probably making more sales due to the buyer type....I mean, if I were the clinet buying new, why not save 100$ for ammo costs, if the product is the same from every retailer...
Selling below MAP pricing set out in the dealer agreement may get you more customers, but it doesn't change the fact that each retailer only gets 3 rifles per shipment, and shipments are spaced 5 to 6 weeks apart. So in reality that isn't going to get more RFB's into peoples hands. But it may cost that retailer their Kel-Tec dealer license.
darn, everything is so protected... Well, I guess we can always "sling some coke"....no wait, that's even more regulated lol.
I didn't realize that selling below MAP would cost you a license. I figured once KELTEC gets their wholesale price, they don't care what you charge, as long as they get their cut.
Doesn't the longer barrels essentially negate the advantages of having a bullpup design? I shudder to think of the 'balance' a 32" RFB would have. Unless you're moving up in caliber, you aren't going to see any major difference in performance between an 18.5' barrel and a 20-22". A deer or moose won't tell the difference.
That sucks, i have seen on line retailers in usa advertising them for around $1600 us, i would love one of these and can afford it no problems but if they are going to push up the prices like this for Canadians im going to pass.
ok found a retailer offering it for cheaper, now its not in stock but thats the case for most of Canadian retailers also.
Is it the Taxes that put up the prices so much in Canada or just keltec setting the price?

Many US online retailers have the RFB listed at much lower than MSRP. But it's a whole different market in the States, and the RFB-C that Vault Distribution brought to Canada is not entirely the same as the US version (different barrel length - no threaded muzzle - Chambers cut for .308 Win instead of 7.62 etc etc...). That coupled with the multiple attempts made to get State Department approval for export, and to obtain an inspection on this side of the border and a FRT number, it's easy to see why the pricing will be higher...
Vault, along with their dealer network are in business to make money - if they didn't, they wouldn't be in business very long. Considering the plethora of hassles and headaches required to bring this line to Canada, the selling price on the RFB is not out of the question.
As for the online seller that you noted - the price was fantastic, but not in stock...If you ever worked retail, you'd kinda have an idea what this means...
.. They talk about early 2011 delivery - Well the Canadian dealer network has already delivered two or three shipments into the hands of enthusiasts, and is on schedule to make more folks happy...All this said, lets just hope that our dollar stays strong, and Kel-Tec increases production of RFB-C's.... Oh, and if they have a moment, they can throw together a KSG for me.... (started to put money away for this purchase...)
