So here is my first impressions of my new taurus 24/7 OSS. Let me start I have had a couple of .40’s and was looking for the one that just fits.I like having .40 in my collection it isn’t my fav caliber but I do like to shoot it once and a while. So I wanted something different looked at a lot of manufactures and all seemed similar. the Taurus 24/7 was available from the ammo source and was on sale it looked nice on some of the reviews I seen on youtube so I took a chance. First impressions I like how grip feels thin like a 1911. It has curves and indentations in the right places my hand fills it up to the slide just right. The grip is textured so that won’t tear your hands apart. Plastic frame is really solid it doesn’t feel cheap at all slide doesn’t rattle its tight in fact wife commented how easy and smooth it was she has had trouble with a lot of semi’s. long barrel should be accurate it is nice and thick shoul be able to handle a lot of rounds. Mag release isn’t in the way you know its there and is smooth to eject a mag. Field strip is easy, Rail for your toys, safety and DE cocker, there is a red cocked indicator at the back of the slide. Chamber loaded indicator on the right side kind of a small red fin. The part I like best so far it behaves like other DAO pistols but it also has the second try so if it goes click you can do a full pull and hit it again. I have yet to take it to the range, that part will come later on. So far I like what I see and feels good in my hand for the price. Heads up this is not a ipsc legal gun. Comments are welcome good or bad.
sorry about the video quality and music is there to drown out background noise.

(pics got deleted sorry)

finally got to take it to the range here is the info I gathered. sorry no video out of respect for the other shooters there.

indoor range

120 rounds
reloads specs: .40 180 gr 5.0 grain of win 231
paper target 8.5x11 freebie target at 10 yards

: I shot consistantly to the left with it. this has to do with me because I did bench it and it was all good from the bench. need to work on my grip with it or some well placed grip tape.
: double action from the decocked point is very smooth
: from the cocked position feels a little spongee, reset is decent
: trigger is not gritty at all
: recoil wasn't as snappy as some .40 I have tried recovery was good from my point of view
: I had one double feed out of the rounds i fired
: biggest problem I had was the magazines, I could only get 9 in it. I did take one apart and was able to get 10 in it after reassembly. will have to work on them.

not sure how the .45 cal of this would be, if someone has experience with it let us know your thoughts.

good for what I bought it for "fun" and a change of caliber.

couple of my targets they were all the same

So here is my attempt to do a pistol review

I have yet to take it to the range, that part will come later on.

I encourage anyone to try one out.

huh? zero rounds qualifies as a review? and you encourage others to try it based on what, zero rounds?

i once saw a picture of a Ford, then at the dealer i sat in a Ford. i drove zero miles in it, and didn't even turn the ignition. i encourage anyone to try a Ford! :jerkit:

I was just about to say the same.

How is this a review in any way?
What do you do when it comes to movies?

"hey man, i just bought this DVD movie, i haven't watched it yet but i really reccommend it based on the look of the DVD case"

It looks to me like you just wanted a pretext to talk about all the guns you have or had and show the one you just got.

Which is cool but.....far from being a review.

brutal! its a start I will take it tuesday and try to get some video I did say RANGE REPORT to come. you are right line edited do to constructive critisim. thanks

let us know what it's like after 500 rounds or so. i notice SFRC has one in .45ACP i think which at times looks kinda interesting, so a REAL review would be handy to have.

new at the writing thing here, I will put it through its paces and let you know how well it holds up after 500 rounds.

LOL you guys are mad harsh on JD3. For starters JD post em up on youtube (much better and accesible, not to mention you'll get more "constructive criticism" on international level. And skip out the music pleaseeeeee LOL i swear i thought that song "###ual eruption" was going to start up.

Nice Taurus though, glad you responded to my request (although it was nice to say shiny new gun pics but i wanted at least a first range review).

When you get a chance JD3 and take it to the range, (and let me know what type of bullets you use), let me know what the recoil is like (im looking into getting it for my first gun), if you have any issues with it while shooting etc..

appreciate it JD3

happy shooting

BP7, if the gun was Canadian (or usen US made) I bet your post would be a lot different.

As far as I'm concerned this is PART 1 of the review. Range report to follow ;)

I held one yesterday it felt great in my hand, pointed really well. I was really tempted.

not really. a "report" that is barely more than a rehash of a catalog page and a "this is how it looks" isn't really a report when it comes to GUNS. i have nothing against a Taurus, and if they made a 4.25" aluminum 1911 i'd be VERY interested in it. i tend not to care about warranties or country of origin too much - funtion is always first!

how does it compare to a normal Glock (not the G21) or an M&P (which appears to be closer in terms of shape)?

Don't let them put you off. It's the start of a fair report. Come back again after a range session and talk some more.

I own a 27/7 Pro in 9mm. I also own a M&P9. I like the M&P quite a bit, but I do think that more time in engineering went into the Taurus! I am not up to 500 rounds yet, but the trigger pull has gone from atrocious to simply heavy. If the trigger continues to lighten it will be an outstanding pistol.

x2

Thank you, JD3, for doing the review. Don't listen to the haters.

The infamous YouTube personality nutnfancy often does a "tabletop review" of a gun he has never fired. Not that that represents a best practice, but it sure seems to work alright for him.

thanks for the encouragement will put at least 150 rounds through it this week. if some friends are there at the range with varied experiences I will ask them to take a mag or 2 just for a difference of opinion. try to bring all the info back and assemble it in one package to the best of my ability.

great first review JD. just saw the edit right now, did you get this off of www.theammosource.com? Thats where im looking at making the purchase. Keep us posted. happy shooting

yes purchased from www.theammosource.com they were great to deal with.
if you do get one let me know about the mags orif its just mine. thought I was having a sissy moment when I couldnt get the 10th round in I did ask some one else to make sure.

hmm, that's a light-to-medium load. i'm used to a hot-ass-mofo load on mine (Glock 22), so that explains the not-too-snappy recoil. try a full load of Longshot powder (around 7.5 to 8 grains). that ought to be quite snappy and then some!

seems you're saying that the DA trigger feels better and smoother than the SA trigger - is that about right? how easy are the slide-release and mag-release controls to get to? do you drop the slide using your thumb on the lever or do you pull the slide back with your other hand and then release it?
