Well, I was just too exhausted to make it out to the rifle range yesterday to try out the Crusader brake. I barely made it to the pistol shoot last night at the indoor range, but I will be heading out on the long weekend and I'll try to get some pics and video. I'll try to get a friend who's got the Heavy brake on his 858 to come and we can do a head to head comparison.

I just got an NEA heavy brake from Wolverine. Its great, reduced muzzle jump and recoil significantly. The amount of noise it makes didnt agree with my ears (which had earplugs that didnt do much), but whatever. Going to try the Crusader out next.

Well, I finally got out to run my CZ with the Crusader Brake from Neit Arms today. It was snowing and about -9 when I first sat down at the 50 yard target. I noticed the reduced recoil and muzzle flip right away, this thing dissipates a ton of gas. The guys shooting beside me thought it was loud.

It did not however, move any of the light dusting of snow that was on the bench, so hat's off to Neit Arms for getting that dust print issue solved.

Aside from being big enough to be a weapon by itself, this thing is a great brake.

Here's my rifle with the Crusader Brake on.

Great Hokus, thank you very much for the update!

I still have a couple of questions, though. Other than the dust issue, when compared to the NEA Heavy Brake, did you notice a difference in recoil reduction? Muzzle flip? Noise? Gas thrown at your face?

Thanks.

Tested today in ungodly cold.

NEA brake is good to go. Loud, but not uncomfortable with decent ear defenders. (suck it up). Re-reference my 11.5" barrel. Source is a lot closer than on restricted or NR variants.

No to 'gas thrown in your face'.

5 round strings (### Canadian mag laws) are effortless. Clean up was a piece of piss.

It's been a little while since I shot the Heavy Brake, but I would say that the recoil reduction is roughly the same, muzzle flip was reduced by quite a bit and the noise is only slightly less. Meaning, this thing is loud to those shooting next to you. Not sure if the only reason muzzle flip is reduced so much is because this Brake is one big mofo, or gas venting is improved. I didn't notice as much gas being kicked directly backward at me, although another shooter who put some rounds through it commented on feeling some gas coming back.

I think I was most impressed with the reduction in recoil and muzzle flip, although it does add noticable weight to the front end of the rifle.

So--The Crusader brake reduces muzzle flip better than the heavy brake, if I'm reading this correctly--right? Sorry-I'm a little slow today--heart meds are a nuisance........

I just recently tried the NEA heavy. I was quite impressed with the reduction in muzzle rise. No blowback in my face either, although the ground was frozen when I tried prone pos. As for noise?? Its a centrefire sans supressor rifle so I expect loud.

I would say that it does, but like I wrote above, it's been a while since I've shot with the heavy brake. Could be the multiple layers of clothes I was wearing last Saturday, as it was -9 when I started shooting and it dropped to -15 in 2 hours.

For all reasonable purposes, I'd say the difference is negligible. Either brake is very functional.

Thanks for the info. I find the muzzle flip more annoying than the recoil. I have one of those 6 port brakes at the moment, and while it does reduce the recoil, it doesn't seem to do much to keep the muzzle down.....
