Shorten PAL Approval Times

The message they left one of my references said they were available 5am-5pm our time (bc) which is kinda handy when you start work at 6am and are up at 4:30. I guess it depends where you live.

thats werid, i called at 7.30 and it said call back at 9....

so its 9-5 pm

This was my interpretation of the initial post as well.

Mine has been there for a week now (I sent it via registered mail) and it is still not online. I called to "kick things off" as suggested in the initial post and they told me it takes at least 2 weeks (from the time it is received) before it appears online.

Maybe the initial post should be updated to reflect this?

nope, mine took 5 days to get online and i was called/approved after 12 days
just have to wait the 28 days, and theres 4 days left now w:h:w:h:

I just finished my non-restricted and restricted licenses and I heard the RCMP does a background check. will my license be declined if I'm on anti-depressants. If anyone has any information regarding medication please send me a message. I would like to know if taking the course was a waste of my time and money. Thank you

If you don't like a response call again and talk to someone else.

I've heard that before. I think that is piss-poor service. What kind of training do they deliver at that centre, anyway? One of the first things that should be taught during customer service training is consistency, not only consistency of each individual, but consistency across all employees. If there is a right answer to the question that I asked, then each rep should be telling every caller the same answer.

It's like everything else in this country, I guess. Going to hell in a hand-basket.

as it says on the application, if you answer yes to any of these provide on a seperate sheet of paper the reason why, more than likely they will just interview you a bit more to make sure your not a risk your self or anyone else.

So what kind of questions are they going to ask my references anyways, any trick questions like if someone broke in would you violently defend yourself? lol wouldnt be surprised. If anyone knows let it out.

all the best

Well this is how my fiasco went today trying to call them from BC.
Called 8:30 pst and received message office hours are 9-5 please call again.
Called at 10am and received message that their call centre is swamped please call back.
Called at 11am and received message the call centre was busy, wait time on hold would be 20mins(i was at work and couldnt wait).
Called at 2:45pm and received message call centre was closed please call between 9-5??????
Called at 4:30pm and received message the centre was closed early due to inclement weather.
So all in all a very unproductive day in trying to get my interview done.:(

Mine finally showed up online, the day after my third call to Miramichi... and it is already "in progress". That's encouraging!

I guess now is the time to call to make sure nothing is wrong with the app?

Application Received on: 2011/02/21

Current Status: Your application has completed initial processing. It is now in progress. Please check the status again at a later date.

K... so pal upgrade finally approved. The got it on the 21st of December, and it was approved sometime last week or early today. The waiting is finally over

Congrats on the RPAL!

I hate to break it to you though, here in Ontario, the wait is never over :p The cycle of buying, delivery and transfers is upon you. The upside is, it's well worth it. :)

I sent mine in registered mail and called them a week after canada post said they signed for it. But the gal on the phone says they had no record of it???

Will they only be able to find it in their system when someone actually opens the envelope?

Should I be worried?

Don't worry. Same thing happens to everyone (these days, it seems). You'll see it online in a few more days.

It is sitting in a pile somewhere. The 28 day clock has started but no one is doing anything with your application.
If it were me, I would call again. Ask why there is no record of the application which Canada Post has already delivered.
