What do you guys think? Just got it in the mail from out east this morning. Honestly I love it, it's got some dings, but I like it. However, I love the wood grain on this gun. Part of me wants to refinish it. However, part of me doesn't.

What do you guys think? Refinish it? I'm mainly just looking at the wood and it wont be a "bubba" job if I do it.

Or not. Leave it as is.

Now here's the kicker! I've bought this gun with no real line on some 7.5x55 Swiss! Does anyone have a line on some cheap GP11?

Just leave it alone, it shows honest wear. If the Swiss, who are very fussy about their firearms felt it was OK, they would have refinished it. It will grow on you. Not only that, you won't throw a hundred dollar bill and several hours of labor out the window, trying to make it pretty.

the Swiss used to refinish their rifles so don't worry.
Just go easy on the sandpaper.

Ammo:
you would be well adviced to start reloading.
tradex has brass and dies, and any 30 cal. bullet will do.
this is much cheaper than paying $ 1.00 per GP11 round.
 
If you don't want to refinish it you can steam a lot of those dents out. Clean the stock with turpentine, fine steel wool and soft rags. Then a few coats of boiled linseed oil or tung oil should bring a lot more of the grain out. Looks like it's mostly just dirty wood. Is that from Joe Salter's Canadian site?
 
Definitely start reloading you cna use any .308 bullet as stated before.
Or just check out the local gunshows you should be able to find some there.
 
I refinished my K11-but it was already D&T [bad job,too] but finding reasonably priced ammo is definately the challenge

Sure is, it was the 16th left when I ordered.
 
When did your K31 ship? I ordered one, it shipped on the 14th of Feb. and it still hasnt arrived! :mad:

Im starting to lose hope, and Canada Post has atrocious customer service which doesn't help my situation.

Don't give up hope. According to Canada Post Tracking my rifle was in Montreal for 9 days. I wouldn't worry to much. It'll get there.

One thing to be noted, Joe doesn't fool around with packing. It was very secure and safe.
 
How are K31's loaded?

Do they use Mauser type stripper clip or en-bloc type loader? Any pix of them or link to one would be very appreciated :)
