Canadian Made Swiss Arms AR Lower

Is there another market for these? .

Only if they fit on the 55x, which they just might. In spite of 'our' opinions there are buyers who prefer stanag mags for their own reasons and pass over the 55x in favor of them, the U.S. made 556 is rarely given any consideration as its in a league all of its own (one not many care to be in). The world is a big place with lots going on, I really think NEA is a doing a great job and may very well be raising some eyebrows, outside of Canada....again.

My 5'ers have the hole aswell

will check mine to see if they have the hole too. Looks like the mag in the pic is pretty beat up. Not highly recommended for any mag. Few hours later..... All my 5's have the hole also

I prefer the Swiss Arms telescoping stock to the AR / Magpul whatever, when used with a Swiss Arms gun. If you haven't tried one, the telescoping Swiss Arms stocks are quite nice.

10 Round mags, that's the name of the game with this lower. I personally think the AR type stock will be a step backwards with the guns, but it will be cheaper.

I'm hoping Jeff will see his way clear to build a lower that will accept the stock Swiss Arms folding stock. I'm one of the lucky ones I guess, because the OEM Swiss Arms stock fits me better than if I'd had it made for my body geometry. Maybe once the initial rush of orders for the AR stock adapter lowers are filled. Hint, hint!!!;)

Read the descriotion above the pics. Not actually beat up. The mess on the front was my attempt to keep the cracks from spreading. The side shot is of the same mags and you can see they look fine.

Picture was taken at the IWA gunshow in Nürnburg this weekend.

55X-lower for AR15-Mags, made by Swiss Arms.

Thanks for posting the pic Kampfhamster, and identifying the source. Looks like SAN, is listening to clients, finally. Did you ask when they will be shipping? Is see they called it US which is why I didn't think it was factory, as the original 55x's are no longer shipped to U.S (due to US law)., would have thought they would have called it NATO instead of US

I have two 5-round SAN mags, made in April 1996 (the dates are moulded in the base plates) and no holes on the body. I also have five 30/5 round mags made between 1990 and 2001 and none has any holes cut out either. I would guess that the modified SAN mags with the holes cut out must be more recent manufacture, perhaps to satisfy the German market, as suggested. Cutting a hole will more likely compromise durability because it creates stress point particularly at the corners, more so if they are cut out after forming the mag rather than incorporating the hole in the mould.

... Well played SAN.. well played. ;)

Looks great. Fact is that it'll still be a long way off and will be priced as a SAN. I'd be all over one of these complete from the factory. I'll still have 556 and NEA lowers on my PE90's though.

Swiss pricing is easy to beat.
