SVT 40 all black

"Bubba-ing" is doing something ugly/a hack job to a gun. As far as I'm concerned if its quality work and looks good then it was not done by bubba...

A lesson learned today in Trollmanship 101. Best way to make a thread to piss people off on CGN? Create a "I'm going to bubba this rifle, I saw nuttinderpy do it!" thread. Guaranteed 50+ posts in the first day.

I say don't as well. Just my opinion, but if you can look at a historic, already badass looking SVT 40 and think to yourself "man, some black Tremclad or something would really pimp that", you might have the wrong hobby.

I love the guys who say "aw, there's millions of them, do what you want, who cares". A few years ago, those same people (or maybe their dads) were probably saying the same thing about Enfields and German K98s. At least my guns will be worth more in a few years as a result.

AGAIN...its only PAINT!!! The guns after WWII were HACKED apart...not painted.

i excepted like 2 replies lol but okay. well it will get painted. a value of a svt40 or sks is garbage lol its a 200-300$ gun that was made in the millions. why do you think its so cheap? if this was a rare gun im sure it wouldnt be called a cheap shooter. they were nice enough to even give us some corrosive cheap ammo :)

THANK YOU.

ps. tapco stocks look like garbage IMO. Ill post pictures once its all done up!

Once again, just because they are cheap now, does not mean they will stay that way. Look at the lee Enfield, mauser, ect, all were once common as dirt, so people modified them, now, an original LE in good shape will go for $400-$700, an all original K98 will go for over 1K, the M1 garand, once a $250 rifle, now goes for 1K on average.

The LE is also a MUCH more "common" rifle, the SVT was not nearly as produced as the LE. remember, they made have made these in the millions, but no where near that amount will be surplussed. Even fewer will make it into canada. They go for only a few hundred now, but once the rifles stop coming in, within a few months you will see the prices slowly climb.

But Like I mentioned, your rifle, your choice, we are just trying to prevent you from doing something irreversible to a piece of history that will eventually be woth something (Look in the US, they go for $700 down their).

But, you seem determined to do it, so I would recommend something other then a rattle can paint job. get the metal parkerized, and maybe try staining the stock black, as paint will just chip off first light tap.

Try to find a SVT40 south of the border ... its very hard , they sell for much more there , imagine the outrage if this was posted in a US form

The angels in heaven are crying... please no, paint a Norinco M14 instead you can find one for not much over $300 and its a better shooter than a SVT.. look what happened to all these enfeilds and mausers they were once giving away dirt cheap , now they are selling for 10 times more , well the ones that werent messed with..

What are you painting Svt40 or SKS? I dont understand which?

Im keeping the wood, but all the metal need to be touched up. Since the gun is so old the metal and its paint is very old and scratched up. Im going to paint the metal on the gun a nice flat black and add a russian red dot to it with a side mount.

11 million Soviets died in ww2 & you want to paint a svt black? Paint is bubba cause its impossible to get off without trashing either the wood or the metal. You will regret your actions & if you do it your gun will end up unsellable. My advice would be to pull your head out of your backside & buy a m305.

You can botch a bubba job very easily. Just ask these Duracoated-guys.

So he will drill and tap as well for his red dot.
This thread is full of fail, you want a tactical rifle, buy one.
Buy a norc m4 or something.

Why not get a no gunsmith mount off of one of the dealers here?

Or are you purposely trying to troll the milsurp forum?

Why not have it re blued? Better yet, get a kit and do it yourself. There's a product I think called Oxymorph that is susposed to be great. Great afternoon project and you wont get ablack finger. I've done a few and its very easy.Th

Cold bluing sucks. In fact, bluing in general sucks, no matter how good it looks. What a bunch of fudds...and yes, you are fudds, and I do know the definition of such. A fudd is a firearms snob, you guys are fitting that description perfectly with all your bubba this and bubba that nonsense. It's just paint, and it's not supposed to be easy to get off, that's the point...although a few minutes in a sandblast cabinet will not only bring any metal to virgin fresh but it will also do it without any sort of damage to said metal. Get a grip.

Dare you to buy a g43 & do that. Come on, man up! No harm done right? Make sure you use a rare maker too. I am sure it would net a small fortune on the ee post paint job esp if you substitute a red dot for the zf.
