At Last boxing day I bought a Franchi renaissance 12g shotgun, a 1.4k$ gun over/under. Franchi is owned by Stoeger.

Rigth after the first couples of box of ammo, i found it the gun has a trigger problem. Returned it to the store, and they send it back to Stoeger (same as benneli!!! so i figured its must be good)

As of now, its has been 3 month in repair... (the service center is in ontario, not somewhere across the border..) Last weekend, i went to the store to get some news. They told me it will take approx 6 month until they receive it...

So, for the people in the market for a new gun, stay away from Stoeger if you need it in the next year...

It is just the worst customer service ever...

FWIW, I know the repair guy and if it's taking more than 2 weeks, it's because the part needed is not a typical breakage and it's coming from Italy.

those companies are part of the Berreta family of companies, not Stoeger.
I don't think I've ever heard of a Franchi having a trigger problem BTW, and Ii have owned doaens of them over the years....

9 months to get a part from Italy is complete bulls**t. What it means is that Stoeger will order the needed parts and they will come in their next shipment (or not) and the owner is SOL until then. I've done this dance with them before and if I need a part I order it myself and have it installed without troubling the dummies at Stoeger Canada.

Nothing new here!

Welcome to Canada.

I had a Bushmaster take 9 months before they finally issued me a replacement!

WTF took them 9 months is beyond me, as they just replaced it anyhow.

It was all about communication and approval from the US department who had to authorize repairs, then parts not coming, and eventually trying to get approval for a replacement.

And this is for a f ckin AR 15 which I could build myself and source parts in a month if that.

In the end like you my opinion is stay away!

The warranty centre I was dealing with was Gravel and they handle Remington, and Marlin as well. I already own 3 marlins, but I will not be buying anymore, and never a remington, or bushmaster that's for sure.

I would go into the store you bought it from and tell them that 9 months is to long. Either its fixed before the trap season starts or replace it. Been there done that and they refunded the money to me and I bought another brand. Only after waiting 10 months and still no end in site. I think the parts from Italy come in once a year. I hope your part was on the order before it was processed.
I wish you luck.

Any repair over 2 months is totally unexceptional and impossible since its the year 2011 and nothing takes 2 months any more unless its something to do with the Government or trying to see a medical specialist :D ....

I would go back to them and tell them to replace your gun if its not back in your hands in 2 months from now.
I would also send letters to everybody involved .... find the numbers for the management of all the companies and complain the s#@t out of them.

The problem is getting firearm parts out of Italy or the US. There is all sorts of dances to do the paperwork for every item to be exported outside of Italy or the US.

It NOT Stoeger the problem but the numbnut paperwork that some countries require. Don't cross the t, and it all comes back as refused!

My DT10L started to open upon firing. It was a very early one and the first one in Canada in 2004. Stoeger offered to ship it to Italy and have the new mods done at NO CHARGE, including shipping from Canada and back from Italy. It will take 5 to 6 months. I might get it back in May or June. Shipments of new guns from Beretta to Canada or the US take months after they are built! So, I am using my 391 Gold Optima in the meantime while the gunsmith that built my gun in the Premium Shop, will do the modifications. Once the mods are done, it will sit while waiting for all the paperwork to be done for export back to Canada.

Your Franchi had something that does not normaly occur, so there were no spare parts. I know that Stoeger orders parts every MONTH. They get parts every shipment but not what they ordered the month before! Paperwork!

Regards,
Henry;)

I've dealt with Stoeger Canada a couple of times and they were top notch...

Bought a new Beretta Extrema 2 and the finish started pealing off the reciever; sent it back and I had a brand new gun a couple weeks later.

Their gunsmith even called me and asked if I would like a different barrel length as I had a 26" and I went with a 30" on the replacement gun.

Like others have stated it must be an unusual part that's not available or something beyond their control if it's taking so long.

I can understand your frustration but I wouldn't go as far as telling people not to deal with them; maybe ask them about a replacement or a credit towards a new gun if your not able/willing to wait.

From my experience and other guys that I know of they are more than reasonable.

Good Luck

Ryan

There are only so many parts in a trigger assembly and the "unusual part" excuse doesn't hold water. Getting replacement parts should be easy and contrary to previous posts getting smaller parts out of Europe hasn't been a problem in my experience.

But if the Stoeger fan boys think waiting many months to get a simple part replaced is acceptable then enjoy shooting your backup guns. Meanwhile I'll just find the part I need and either install it myself or have a local gunsmith do it. The last time for me was a top spring lever for a P-gun. Total elapsed time was three weeks.

The OP will get his gun back, if he's lucky, by New Years. It's completely unacceptable and Stoeger should either replace the gun or get the appropriate part and stop screwing the guy over.

When I was looking at alternative guns I read a few posts on a variety of forums that the earlier Franchi Renaissances were having trouble with missfires and light strikes. Perhaps yours is one of the earlier models that came out. The gun otherwise is nice and seems to shoulder about the same as a Beretta. Its really light to.

Agreed with the above, if its a part coming out of Europ anything more than maybe a 3 month wait is bs. Not an acceptable level of service.

Beretta USA and Stoeger Canada are separate entities. Stoeger Canada imports its guns directly from Europe and not through the United States. Stoeger Canada's reputation is one they earned on their own.

I like Beretta guns but realize that thanks to Stoeger Canada their warranty isn't for s**t and should something need fixing I'll take care of it myself.

i can only echo my experiences with stoeger- i needed a new safety for a 92s, as mine had broken off- they sent the slide back after about 3 months, with the current new style safety installed, and it would fall "on" in rapid fire - so i ended up loctiting the fool thing in the FIRE position- i normally don't use a safety anyway, so the transition was no big deal

You should have got a gun that was designed to open on firing in the first place:D like your 391. Just goes to show you that assembly line autos are often better than custom shop doubles;)

Sorry to hear that you are having such a hassle. I had a problem with my P350 about 6 months after I bought it. I sent it the Stoeger place in Oshawa? and had it back in about a month. I use it for trap and hunting. It's been super-reliable.
