SPR Build: Optic Choice

What is the purpose of SPR ? In my mind, it is a portable platform that allows someone to engage man-sized target with reliability out to 600m and with good probability out to 800m in the hand of a more skilled "operator" (haha).

This means:
1) 4X and FC -2 are not appropriate optics combo - a mildot or some other reciticles that can be used for holding-off wind/elevation and ranging should be selected. A pre-calibrated bullet drop turrent for fast adjustment might be desireable.

2) The thing should not be target rifle that you can only carry it from the parking lot to the table without exhausting yourself

The OP specified "out to around 300 yards". I think a 1-4x with FC2 reticle would do nicely. Might as well keep the flexibility to engage close targets as well.

Lots of Service Rifle shooters find 3.4x works well to 500m.
