If CCW was legal in Canada, which of your handguns would you carry?

L o l, coughing up a lung here.

Come on fellas. You HAVE to go full power!

As much as I like a good laugh (and who doesn't ?), you'd have to be gifted like the mighty Holmes himself in order to divert attention from a tucked 500 Snubby

And very few of us can claim that ! (being able to tuck a 500 snubby I mean)

And after all, "It's not the gun, it's really the gunner "

I really DO admire your enthusiasm here !

I can conceal my 4.25" Super Redhawk in 454 Casull rather easily and I am just under 6' 3" - 220 lbs so it actually could be doable for some to conceal a 500 snubbie.

The issue would be over penetration - shooting thru the target and hitting an innocent or 10 behind the bad guy would be frowned upon by the courts.

:D

I side with the small and handy group. While a PPK is a good choice, it is large compared to a Seecamp which is my favorite for everyday carry in jurisdictions where legal. I know it is not a powerhouse but 32 Winchester silvertips will do most realistic jobs.

I'm seeing that most of use are picking semi-auto's I even picked a G29 in 10mm with a 40 S&W barrel for CCW but the more I think about it most situations would only need max 5 - 6 shots.

We won't be in a prolonged gun fight so all we should need is max 5 - 6 shot capacity so once again my pick now would be a S&W J frame in 357 mag.

CCW in Canada, still just a wet dream

Somehow I don't think too many of us would be packing concealed the really big un's (handguns) all day long especially in the summer months where the advantage of a jacket or heavy coat can't be realized. In some jurisdictions of the U.S. it is unlawfull for CCW holders to even inadvertently display their concealed weapon of choice. To choose a handgun such as a full size 1911 or larger for their CCW option has obvious limitations to concealment to the person of average height and build if the mode of carry is a belt holster whether in the waistband or out. Shoulder holsters offer a better level of concealment for larger guns but still require a minimum of clothing to prevent the gun from printing through a shirt or similar garment.
For much of what Hollywood would have us believe for concealed carry in the movies and TV, it's important to remember that actors don't actually carry concealed for the entire span of their filming durations and only produce a weapon from concealment just prior to a "shoot 'em up type of scene" anyway.
Ask any cop who has had to lug his concealed carry snubby or abreviated autoloader and they will tell it's no fun especially in the warmer months simply because it's added weight and bulk. My friend, compadre and retired constable with the O.P.P. back in the days prior to the upgrade to their .40 S&W Sigs' when they carried the relic old Colt Police Positive .38 Sp. or the S&W M-10 always carried a concealed back-up in a Chiefs Special M-60 5 shot simply because it made sense ergonomically.
The issue that really annoys me is that the newer technology in concealment firearms will never be accessable to Canadians because of the ban of 12-6 status importation of those guns to Canada for other than law enforcement personell. Ask yourself why no politician, Conservative or other is pushing for the repeal of the firearms prohibitive status clauses in our Canadian Criminal Code ?
And lets face it, "a gun is a gun, is a gun, is a gun ! Regardless of it's barrel length or caliber. Period ! The rest is just Lieberal stupidity jammed into the psyche of Canadian "public safety"
Just another Lieberal Lie towards "feel good" legislation.
And unfortunately it appears that we are permanently stuck with it even WITH a Conservative majority possible.

Custom 1911. As far from off the rack as possible. My only change would be the dream of prohib status so could own a Commander length.
