glock or smith wesson

Both are good pistols.
Buy the one that You like more.
Give them a try or at least hold each in your hand in the shop before buying.
I would start with 22 lr handgun though.
 
glock all the way for all the reasons you could think of . better everything and not as loose fit as a M&P, plenty of after market parts/triggers you might dream about......

you see a whole bunch of glocks at the matches.

M&P, well,not so much and there are many reasons for that...
 
i have a m&p 40 and love it but i also like the glocks so just get what ever one feels better
 
of course try more guns at your local range before decide on ONLY two light polymer guns in a snappy 40SW cartridge.
I cannot be of any help on yr two choices, but personally I'd go for S&W MP because of the grip ergonomics....both are good reliable guns!

yea ive already been fondling each brand . but i was under time restrictions

I owned a glock 17 back in the early 90's and loved it but eventually sold it. I recently obtained both a Glock 17 with raised finger swells and an M&P9 with standard length barrel.
High marks for ergonomics go to the M&P, compared to many guns but especially compared to the Glock.
quality? they're both midpriced mass production polymer framed pistols. You get what you get and I don't feel there is a significant difference between them...they're meant to be shot, and alot.

I'd say if the Glock fits your hand than go with the Glock. Which generation is a whole other question. I've used both guns extensively and prefer the Glock. Easier to take down, has a longer barrel, lower bore axis and points well. Price wise they are both about the same. Parts goes to the Glock. Trigger feel I'd say are about the same. I really dislike the use of a tool to takedown the M&P.
 
I had a M&P9 now I have a Glock 22. Both are great guns. For .40 caliber M&P would probably be better because of better chamber support.

I have both the M&P9 and a few different Glocks (almost all 9mm).

Either gun is good, it's more a case of personal preference and which one looks/feels/points/etc better for you.

Oh yeah, why 40? Why not 9mm?
