CZ858 Upper&Lower Handguard replacement-what did you do?

How can you love the original furniture? Pistol grip is made for a child's hand. Nice piece of glued garbage. I'm sure I could glue two pieces of crap together neater than that. Good lord. For function and cosmetics, it had to go. Handguards aren't quite as bad, but why not change them if you changed the pistol grip? I'm sure most owners do.

I have large hands and I thought the pistol grip was just fine on my rifle. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. As far as I know, regular troopies in the Czech Republic are satisfied with the material. The only other wood stock material I would consider for an 858 would be a good quality hardwood laminate, which is the kissing cousin to micarta and this unnamed material.

The pistol grip is a bit short for me. Another 1/2"-3/4" longer would be nice.

Never thought of "plywood" as a kissing cousin to Micarta. ;) I'm going to use solid maple. It's the closest I have to birch and it fits the region well.

If you have big hands like me, even with one finger on the trigger and 3 on the grip, my hand is still hanging off by 1/2 an inch. Swapped it for the FAB, which is much bigger and with better ergonomics. If you have small/medium hands and don't mind the ugly furniture, by all means, keep it. The glue stripe running throughout the piece must be icing on the cake for you guys.

Oh I would only use the finest grade of budget reject merranti, and knockoff dollar store white glue! :p
