Changed memind.......
With all this yack on the lever thread and my forgotten 25-35, this old 1894 will be
my new loafer.
Just need to sell my 250-3000 99 now.........

It use to be my Trapper 16 inchs in 44 mag but this year i guess i will give a chance to my new 77 44 Ruger carbine in 44 mag, so far i am impress... JP

If I'm just going out for a strole I automatically reach for my Savage Model 24 22lr/410 over under. Can't beat a walk through the bush with my kid with that gun on my arm on a beautiful fall day.

Good one. I similarly like by Brno 12 ga over 30-06 for strolls in the bush... mind you, its a bit more "loud". :D I tend to fire the light stuff from the 12 ga barrel, saving my 30-06 for those "chance encounters".

This was an interesting question with some good posts

If I am just wandering around I carry my Savage model 23 in .32-20 with a
2 1/2X Busnell scope.
If I think that I might really run into a deer I carry my M96 6.5x55 cut down to 22" with a Williams receiver sight.

I have a 45 cal. CVA Kentucky percussion rifle. It's light (but definitely not short), well balanced, accurate as heck, and just "feels" right.
