Shorty VS full length

A factory short M305.

Does it cost any extra to get the shorty?

yeah costs about $100 more ( i bet they are the same price from factory though ) .. but our main supplier of them are a bunch of nazi's .. they overprice everything cos NZ is full of fudds who think an M14 came from space and fires nuclear-l4z0r rockets ... so they get away with it.

^ Very nice. Although, the picture seems to be lacking in the 'seizure enducing shorts design' department. You may want to do something about that.

I'm sending a 1911a1 there (Dlask) for parking so I may follow-up with the shortening as well. Price is quite reasonable.
It's been a couple years since I sent the last one to be done, but I think it was around $70 + shipping.....Dlask did the work.

.

Ah, that pic always cracks me up. It's like "Guns! Hell Ya!" but the shorts just totaly throw off the badassery.

Its like if the guys in Generation Kill wore clown shoes or top hats all the time.

What was this thread about again?:D

Oh ya. Does anyone run irons on a shorty? If so, is there a noticible difference in your sight picture? Just curious since the front aperture is closer to the rear than on a full length M14.

I too feel that the front sight lacks, for lack of a better word, a sharp, refined point. Don't get me wrong, I love my irons, I just don't much care for the front sight. I will consider filing mine thinner now that you mention it. I will also have to consider chopping my Norc down seeing as they get more accurate.

Is it common to get a gunsmith to do the chopping? Or is it best to send it off to Narnia or wherever our majestic M14s come from to get the work done?

You could make it easy on yourself and have both.

07 Norc accurized 22" barrel on a JAE-100-G2 OD stock.

07 Norc accurized 18.5" barrel on a Troy stock.

I also have an 09 Norc & an 09 Poly. untouched at this point.

Assuming the Badass scale is from 1-7, that sounds pretty good. $70 sounds like money well spent if it will make me look cooler when I'm rocking out in front of my mirror in my undies playing "bathroom comando". I keep smashing the mirror when I do my tactical turn arounds.

I'm not too concerned about accuracy improvement. So long as it doesn't get less accurate, I'll be fine with it.

Also, shipping to Narnia is free. You just have to buy the right wardrobe. I've spent around 12 grand trying to buy the right one, but to no avail. Maybe next time.

Bite your tongue, Fenix. We all know damn well that nothing tops baconaise. Well, except for Tom Selleck. But aside from him, nothing can be better than baconaise, although Votron does come pretty darn close.
