.22 Long (rimfire) Hopkins & Allen "Ranger"-model spur-trigger revolver, 7-shot cylinder. Has temperamental cylinder rotation issue. Very unique---CFP had to make a new entry for the model in the database when I received it from my father's collection, in 2010.

I'm curious about the potential to have this deregistered and re-classified as an Antique... then tuned up to functional condition.

http://jtjersey.com/Ranger/ranger.htm Any advice and opinions are welcome! I know that H & A went bankrupt in 1898... whereupon it was re-incorporated by a parent company shortly thereafter. What do I need to convince the CFC that this is 'not a prohibited firearm'?

"To dream the impossible dream". You could get it welded up to class as a paper weight, but I would enjoy it the way it the way it was born. If it was a .32 rf., it would be less dangerous, and an antique.

As a poorly functional 12.6 revolver I am afraid not very much, maybe $50. You would get better money if you want to export to the States(they would consider it an antique) maybe as much as $200 in it's current shooter grade condition. These were never high dollar items and are relatively common.

Is it 12.6 or 12.7?

I suppose if the OP had his own 12.6 status before his father passed away it makes no difference re: the actual prohib tansfer. If he did not have 12.6 endorsment the OP would likely have been granted 12.7 status to complete the transfer but the prohib classification of the actual revolver does not really change, the numbers really refer to the license holders status, a prohib by any other name is still a prohib.

I have no prohibs so a kind 12.6 endorsed member can clarify if I am incorrect.

Absolutely right, Apu!

I own them under article 12(7); but, I *should* have been granted 12(6) status... I got screwed by the bureaucracy (by design)!
