Farewell Sweet, Sweet Krink... a VZ58 to Krinkov conversion story

It is with heavy heart and sad umberage that I say farewell to my hopes of putting together a Krink'ish type from the CSA Compact.

John's eulogy put the final nail in the coffin stating "Wolverine Supplies has decided to end our contract with Czech Small Arms. We will no longer be importing these firearms. Unfortunately we never received the Compact model and the AR15 magazine adapter. "

Albiet he never tasted sweet existance that parts were all there waiting for the day the Compacts would be on shore. Alas it was not meant to be. A few pictures to remember him by...

The Krink Fore stock assembly straight from Mother Russia. Both top and bottom are a bit short on this mid sized CZ but with a scavenged piece cut from the VZ58 fore stock it works ;)

my guess is another dealer will start importing them .. glad i got a carbine on the way! was not to into the compact.. the barrels were way to short to stabilize the bullet proper i heard its because they had the same twist of the standard VZ? they need a different twist for a barrel that short. and also with a shortened gas system my guess they were having serious issues in testing.. also the ballistics from these compacts would be garbage, a pistol round would perform better in a barrel that short and deliver more energy on target .. they are more of a tacticool novelty gun .. or a ultra short range PDW ,but the massive fireball let out from the unburned powder would scare off most.. I WANT A COMPACT CHAMBERED IN 7.62X25!! that would be the cats ass .. Not really sure why the OP would butcher up a brand new compact to make a FAKE krinkov ? they dont even fire the same round? The VZ is a great gun and it looks good too it was preferred by many special forces in the warsaw pact countries be proud and happy with its design..
 
Well the few that can still own a real krink cant shoot it, so why not build one out of something still legal to fire? Its going to be restricted anyways so why does it have to be practical? Clobb did some testing with his shorty and found the underbore 7.62x39 to be well suited to short barrels. Not a lot of velocity was lost and the trajectory wasnt too bad. Restricted guns are just range toys so why not have some fun with it! The gas port has been figured out on these guns, they run just fine.

sad day indeed

i built a condo (cabinet) for the CSA family and patiently waiting for them to arrive in blued (dont like paint).

now, i will appreciate my FSN-01K even more . i love the plum blued .

Yea but clobb built a carbine with a 11.75 NOT A COMPACT 7.5 .. im fine with the carbine i own one , so his tests dont mean too much as far as the compact 7.5 goes..

Me thinks your thinking of the carbine, not the compact. About 4" of difference, a shorter front handguard and some other esthetic details.

Couldn't have said it better myself.
 
The CSA's are good guns, I'm positive someone will pick up the line.

Whether or not we see the compacts will depend on if they run reliably. If they do materialize, I wouldn't be surprised to see them with a Krink-ish booster on the muzzle to increase the dwell time. If they need the booster, they probably won't end up much shorter than the carbine.
