how does this look??

Yah right. A boss I used to work for used to say, "you ain't hurt'in, you ain't work'in".
Some of us suffer sore shoulders or other recoil suffering pain.
The ones that don't must of been born like Hercule's or are just plain lazy, or don't know what hard work is all about.
Just say'in as my magnum wears a brake.:p

Know what you mean:(. When I was 'on the tools', I fell 15' into the barker refuse conveyor and landed on my left shoulder. Sometime later, total tear of my right rotator. My biggest problem is pain in some ranges of movement, especially with the right. Recoil for me, doesn't seem to be a problem, as long as I remember to keep that right elbow tucked down. I guess;) it 'bunches' up a bit of meat that acts as a cushion. The biggest I have is a 458 WM and a 10ga. 3 1/2" SxS and I can handle those, as long as I remember to keep the elbow down. If I forget, as I have done on a couple of occassions, I'm done for the day.

I just don't like the appearance of the muzzle brake. To me they look like a specialty spray nozzle for a garden hose:p. I do have one on my 500 S&W and the only thing it seems to accomplish:rolleyes: is to blow back particulate toward your face. One day I'll have to see if I can get a replacement barrel, sans muzzle brake. The only thing holding me back is the accuracy it presently delivers.

I have absolutely zero love for any muzzle brake. Noisy, ugly, blows debris all over the place, adds length to the barrell without any velocity benefits, etc, etc.
Now if I owned a 378 or 460 Weatherby or a Big 50, I might reconsider the brake, but the likelihood of me owning one of those is akin to the likelihood of a snowball surviving for an hour in a 450º oven. LOL. Eagleye.

I hate brakes but there is something about making one yourself, I would lathe it up a bit and make the barrel transition way more smooth instead of the popcan on a stick look.

yes yes

TOO FUTURE POSTERS ; I RAN OUT OF TIME TO CLEAN UP THE ROUGH EDGES AND FOCUSED PRIMARLY ON THE WORKING FUNTION..
thank you

as about the comment only wimps use brakes, you must not bench shoot too many 300 winmags on 7lb guns too often AND care about accuraty

was just about to post a "Lost & Found" for my colon cleanser nozzle and... :D

Looks radical & cool. However, i suspect you need to wear a full face helmet along with your best set of ear plugs. Any before & after data ?
