A friend of mine found this while working in the woods:

The label in French says "Warning Radioactive Material"

Markings on the thing say:

RCAF
REF *something faded*
SSE-44

And it has a 'radioactive' symbol.

The fact that it's blue, and the fact I'm pretty sure the RCAF isn't in the business of dropping radioactive stuff at random lead me to believe it's a dummy round of some sort.

Any info?

ill give ya $30 for it, ill even pay shipping

Hehe, not mine, and if I pay 30 bucks for it I'll keep it!

Something that puzzles me is, if it's the dummy for something that is radioactive, what is it? I had no idea there were 12" long nukes.

Pull the pin & drop it on it's nose... See if anything happens..?

That should tell ya what it is...

hint: IT'S A F&@KIN BOMB...!

Ah the radioactive stick may be there for a reason lol. It probably has tritium in it or something else, so you may want to call DND on this one.

Oh and the military NEVER EVER put a radioactive sticker on anything unless it's radioactive "so it is 100% radioactive"

Marking where you hit maybe "radiation was safe back then ;)" so don't F with it

This thing has to be post-WWII. There wouldn't be a French sticker on it, or even any plastic sticker if it was older. I figure the blank sticker above is the faded English version. People were well aware of radiation after WWII.

I'd be careful if it's radioactive. I'd have the radiation level checked before you risk opening it up. You could inhale all kinds of badness. Radioactive material could be for tracking purposes?

What is the fitting on the side of it? Could it be something that was towed from an aircraft and used to test some sort of tracking systems or could it be part of a sensor system itself?

Yes it looks like it was towed by a aircraft .. could have something to do with a radar or sonar system on sub hunter plane ?? call the RCAF?

uhhh its got radioactive signs all over it, lol might want to check it out with some one pro before taking it home and putting it in your display
