I will be moving to NB i was wondering if a 7mm-08 and a 7 mm would cover all my needs for hunting deer moose black bears.
Thanks

Anything from 7/08 up to 35Whelen will be fine here. Shots are not typically long. Long range magnums and huge scopes are not needed and would be more of a hindrance.

A nice light 7/08 or 308 with a 20 or 22" bbl and low powered variable would be perfect. I use a 2x7 Leupold on three of my rifles incl. my 22/250.

My go-to rifle is a M700 in 257Roberts with a 2x5x8. Also have a 20" M700 in 358Win with 2x7 that will go out this fall.

I wouldn't be too concerned with moose hunting here as tags come in a draw and they are few and far between. I went 20yrs between moose hunts. Most of the BG hunting here would be for whitetail deer and we have a month long season.

Also ...... Bring an upland gun with open chokes for grouse, woodcock & wabbits. I use a 20ga SxS.

Where are you moving to?

.

Yes, that will cover those 3.

You will want a 22 center fire for varmints, as you can carry it year round, except for the week of moose season.

Get this and cover both of your bases while out in the NB bush:

12 gauge, 3 inch (IM choke)
OVER
30-06 Springfield

You can run rifled slugs, 00 buck, #2 bird, whatever, and still have "big daddy" ready if a deer or moose presents itself. :)

She's dead accurate at 50 metres with the iron sights.

I wouldn't worry about hunting moose any time soon, with the way the moose draws are here you may not get a crack at one for 20 yrs. LOL

Funny, Newfoundland is crawling with Moose. :D

The ironic part is NFLD is crawling with moose that were imported from NB in 1904.
The system has changed a little this year, people who haven't been picked in a few years get more ballots in the draw and the number of licenses has increased. Not necessarily good news for the new hunter though.
To get back to the OP's question, I used a 270 for years in NB on one moose and many deer, a 7mm would do fine. The forrests are generally thick but you still have cutovers and hydro right of ways that offer a longer shot, if you are so inclined.
