m1 carbine

Most non restricted M 1 carbine in Canada were converted by welding a barrel extension onto the muzzle, making the barrel longer to qualify as a non restricted, so as collector value goes its not that much, as a shooter some I've seen were pretty bad, seems the barrel extension made already so so accuray of the M 1 a lot worse.

hmm barrel extension im sure that dose not count as a longer barrel becuse if it did i could do the same to the 8" barrel from my sten kit to have a non restricted one lol

id like to have a non restricted with a non welded barrel im sure theres some like that

"...converted by welding a barrel extension..." Not legal any more.
"...so so accuracy of the M1..." M1 Carbine accuracy is not "so-so". Accuracy is about the quality of the barrel and the ammo.
Nobody is currently making non-restricted Carbine barrels or non-restricted rifles. No demand for 'em, Stateside. Iver Johnson made some 19" barrels and Carbines back in 1979ish, but they've long since closed down. Like I <3 M14 says, there are some 19" Carbines around, but not many.
Your only other option is to turn a Carbine into a straight pull bolt action by replacing the gas piston and its nut with a custom made solid screw-in plug. Has to be permanent to get the rifle de-restricted.
They can be turned into a pump action by putting in the solid plug and making a forend that fits over the stock and attaches to the op rod. That's a great deal of work though.

You have a Sten kit and you are pi$$ing around with Jaco designs?

If you want a 19" M-1, put a WTB ad. in the EE. They're out there.

yea i have a sten kit in the works i just dont know what i want it to be yet 18.5" barrel or 8" barrel im going to do the open bolt like the ones from
smg International(########) mick did a pic for every step along the way even helped me with the parts i cant make

the one i got is not a normal sten mk2 its a sten mk 2 with the canadian pattern stock

Don't know what you mean - Canada made four patterns of Sten stocks - the pipe and plate version, the profile type with formed "U" shaped sheet metal, the formed sheet metal pistol grip, and the experimental wooden one.
The Brit. sheet metal stock is usually made a bit differently. Anything Canadian will have the C/l\ mark.

Anyway, if you want a non-restricted carbine, get a WTB ad. in the EE. You might turn one up right away.

so i could take a restricted M1 and put a longer barrel on it to make it non-restricted cool

Yup.
But there is no current supply of non-restricted length barrels.
Last batch were at TradeEx, but they are long gone.
You could place a WTB ad in the EE, see if you can turn one up. Get the barrel, then wait for a good buy on a carbine.
But it would be easier to find a non-restricted carbine than to find the barrel.
Same procedure as with your Sten kit. Make it up restricted with the 8" barrel, then install a 18 1/2"+ barrel later and get it reclassified as non-restricted.

I'd sell you mine, but I would have to literally charge you an arm and a leg for it.

I used to carry my commercial Plainfield M-1, with a repro M1A1 stock on it on my snowmobile. Shot arctic hare with it. On small game a head shot is a must. The M1A1 stock is a pretty poor excuse for a folder by modern standards. Really wobbly, no positive lock to keep it open. Later I carried a folding AKM. About the same length, fit nicely in the under seat box, a LOT more gun.
When the law changed, I had a very skilled 'smith install a rifled TIG welded extension, remachine the end of the barrel and reset the front sight. It is really hard to tell that the barrel had been extended. When the law changed again, I rebarrelled it. Still have the extended barrel, although its not particularly useful now.
