Ideas for Dominion Arms

No dimensions, but that's better than nothing.

Was it you that posted all the math for bolt weight, spring tension and all that for most of the common calibers in straight blowback operation?

just a thought,

If the M1 in question were made to take full size Desert eagle mags, could you not just add spacers to the mags and adjust the feed lip angles and be able to feed all calibers on the table? There would be an opportunity to produce DE spec mags for aftermarket as well.

PPSh-41 semi.

+1 , However acquiring tooling for the stamping will be costly, or simply a b*tch to do. If canam were to invest, they'd be sticking with ppsh's for the long haul lol! I doubt a CNC'd receiver would be any more economical either :(. But you are right about strikers, nothing too crazy about them. I have heard about reliability issues though, from home-building forums down south. I personally would stick to hammer-fire in any scenario, but i am biased, i am more comfortable with hammer-based designs .

Tec 9 doesn't look too bad, as a "design from the ground up" project. Someone will have to make the blueprints, and CAD drawings. Run numbers, and tweak the designs... Not cheaply done if you are out-sourcing. But the complexity is minimal, not like trying to do the same for a beltfed lol...

SCDL , do you have access to that thread, i could really use those numbers!

HAHA! Found it!

Actually, now that I think about it... An AR-15 upper could be pretty easy with a side-loaded mag, and it would seriously reduce the cost overhead.
The information, so much, so magical :dancingbanana:, i love you in the straightest way possible :D. LOL , this will save me from having to design projects from trial and error (or optimizing the variable values myself). Spring strength and bolt weight ratios can be designed for total weight reduction, although within hand-charging reason, a super lightweight bolt is useless if i can't #### it .

I vote for top feed upper that ejects out of the original mag-well. More specifically, pan drum or maybe doppel trommel style :D. So many possibilities!

It's a concept. The Chinese made PPSh's, so it's moot. The bolt is the same on semis, except striker.

If Can-Am is interested we can PM about other considerations.

I wasn't implying that a Tec 9 would ever be acceptable here. Only that the striker system can be made cheaply. In the day they sold for $200-300.

SKS pistol with pistol magazines.

Sort of surprised I haven't seen someone do this on a project gun, since you can pickup and risk killing an SKS for pretty cheap these days.

I guess i'm sure it's probably been done?

It would have to be an actual manufacturing company making it or else they would not allow pistol magazines.

BREN style irons, maybe?

Also, we could easily make a brass catcher. Take the body of a 10 round mag and replace the floorplate with a cloth pouch.

An sks pistol would be one heavy mother

I think you are missing my point.... They have a million SKS's around and the equitment to make them so they could make a Type whatever pistol then they could produce a bunch of Type whatever magazines that fit in a normal SKS. Preferably a hinge type like a Tapco.

They could be stamped "Type whatever pistol magazines"

I'd even buy one of those Type Whatever pistols, especially if they were cheap just for fun.

Oh i knew what you meant, just thinking about the sks design, shrinking it, and how heavy it'd be.

Not really an idea for Dominion Arms but more an import opportunity for CanadaAmmo.
Some where in China they are making some pretty nice LPA ghost ring clones.....how do I know? They are on the Stevens 350 Pump Security that are being imported from China.

Maybe bring some of these sights in....?

DO NOT WANT.

Then don't buy it, but I am sure you would be happy to get your hands on some of the magazines. I'd buy one like that if it was cheap just for fun.
