I had a Vortex 1-4x PST w/ADR mount on my 16" AR. In terms of optical quality, I was happy. I found the battery like for the illuminated reticle so-so, but at the range I never really needed it, so that wasn't a problem. However, I did not like extra weight it added to that particular rifle, and in terms of balance as well. So I sold it, and the mount, and bought an Aimpoint Pro instead, which I'm very happy with.
Would I buy another Vortex? Yes, absolutely. I was not happy with the ADR mount, I felt it was too loose. The CGN member I sold the scope and mount to was informed of this before he bought it, and he also found it loose. Maybe Vortex/ADR can rectify the problem with a replacement, but I didn't try.
In the end, it came down to how the rifle felt in my hands, and I'm happier with the Aimpoint.
ETA: OP, if you can, I would suggest keeping your existing optics package until at least you've picked up your new one, and learned whether you like it or not. Sometimes that not a feasible option, but IMO its the smart move.
