9 mm reload suggestion

Really? My Shadow probably doesn't know about that. Let's keep it that way.

Lucky you. Mine chokes on 147 gr lead boolits when I drop down to 130ish PF. I should drop down to an 11# recoil spring and I suspect all would be good. I actually prefer my 85 Combat over the Shadow as it is lighter but that is a personal thing. Too, ultimately I think a M&P Pro in 9MM might even be a better solution to Production Division, not that the gun has much to do with my mediocre performance.:D

Do most IPSC shooters use 147 grain bullets ?

Ken Waters doesn't even list a load with a bullet larger than 125 grains.
Sierra doesn't have a load listed either. They only go as high as a 130 grain bullet.
My Speer manual lists a load using 4.1 grains of WSF, but I know that titegroup is faster.

I will look around for more info.

Pump it up to 132..135PF

From last IPSC Ontario Provincials an M&P seem like a good solution if you want to get promoted to Open. The trigger pull is too close to the minimum one.

I just bought a Shadow. All the research I've done says to load OAL no longer than 1.10 but since I had some 1.14-1.13 reloaded ammo left, I thought I'd try it. My Shadow sent 300 rounds down range without a problem. I even tested the if the bullets were starting to hit the rifling by using a black marker on the bullet and found nothing rubbing off. Why can my Shadow cycle 1.14 OAL rounds? (not that I'm complaining) Are CZ barrels not consistent? Do some barrels have shorter chambers than others?

I'm using 147gr Berry's bullets and have an 11lb recoil spring.

Also, all things being equal, would most of you guys prefer a 147gr bullet over a 124gr for competition?

Thanks

Different bullets, have different ogives...as such oals will differ for any given bullet when it hits the lands of any particular firearm....different guns will take different oals as well. Best to tailor bullets to your particular firearm...and any info in a loading manual is only a guide.

hello all,

any suggestion for a 9mm reload for my production cz shadow?

i have 147 mm aim bullets and hodgdon tite group, longshot, international clays and autocomp power.

If you must use AIM projectiles, I would suggest titegroup or autocomp.. But next time,, try picking up BDX, Hornady's, or Campro... "AIM"S SUCK" They are all inconsistant in weight and size, you should sort out every piece before you reload...

I used 147 when I ran an SP01 back in 07 nats. It's too heavy for the gun to react right for me. I hope you have good results with your choice/opinion.

With such attitude you may as well stop shooting. But if you want to shoot Open at least get proper equipment for division

Eugene... exactly where do you get off telling anyone else what shooting means to them

I expect with your attitude that you'll be leaving the sport long before the rest of us.

Maybe you should try and remember back when you just did it for fun (if that was ever the case)

Had to change powder when witched from 124gr to 147gr. But now the felt recoil is much softer, and subjectively, sights are getting back on target faster (i.e. either slower or not as high muzzle flip).

You ever watch a Clint Eastwood movie. The line went something like this, "A man has to know his limitations".

In any shooting competition there are but only a few who have a realistic chance at finishing first in any and all divisions. If you haven't discovered that by now then you are welcome.

For the rest of us we compete with ourselves or against a friend or we compete just for the fun of being out with the guys or even to compare our abilities or lack there of against the best of those who show up. I can assure you all are very valid reasons to participate and results in a significant amount of enjoyment for most. We come away from the shoot as winners, always. You on the other hand compete to only to win and no doubt come away from most shoots disappointed.

If you see yourself as the next Rob Leatham or Adam Tyc then I got news for you- the horse has already gone there is no point in shutting the gate. You aren't and never will be and I can say that without even knowing you.

Gotta love the internet. People can slag anyone they want in the sweet delicious embrace of anonymity. I find people tend to have a little more class and a little less courage when they have to actually look you in the eye when they try to kick you in the balls.

BTW: I guess this is suckage to you? http://www.aimprojectiles.com/Updates/default.asp
