I often go in the woods where the bears live and this is what I carry:

It"s my Browning 12 gauge side by each that I've owned for 35+years. Rottweil Brenneke slugs, of course and the less than lethal option, bear spray.
The knife is to skin the beast...

What do you use?

Where did you find the Brennekes? Not easy to find in Canada.

I have an 870 Express with a RemChoke 21" barrel.

The white package was one of several I bought in 1983 in Victoria in an outdoor store that closed many years ago. The other ones I bought off a board members a couple years ago.

I currently have 45 Brenneke slugs.:)

What config do you have it in? Is it a mariner?

Nope, its just the parkerized 20" version with ghost-ring and post sights and a conventional style Speed Feed stock. The only add-ons are a sidesaddle and the ventilated hand guard which has saved the barrel from damage more than once from nasty falls in slippery rocks. I should have had the muzzle threaded for choke tubes, not to choke down the barrel but to help protect the muzzle from dings; but I haven't done that yet. The good thing about this gun is that it carries 17 rounds of ammo, 7 in the magazine, 4 in the stock wells, and 6 in the side-saddle so I never have carry extra rounds in my pockets, the bad thing is the weight of carrying 17 rounds of ammo!

and I love these threads so you guys that don't and have to spew don't waste your time reading it and you can p*ss off for all I care... :p

Here is a pic of my 2 Rem 870 12 gauge top is a 14" barrel from Dlask bottom is a factory 18.5" barrel with a 7 round extension tube.

so the 20" heavy barrel 590 should be like 7.5 lbs and with the hand guard, saddle and 17 rounds it should be well over 10 lbs?

I carry whatever I need for whatever I'm hunting or like Pharoah if I'm fishing I carry a fishing rod.

I live in the BC interior and I am more likely to carry a defense shotgun out of concern of Dope growers than I am fear of bears.

Over the past 5 years I think I have had more close calls with Dopers than I've even seen bears

Let me get the jump on that:
1) With the right bullet, sure.
2) You can't do anything with one that you can't do with the other.
3) With the right bullet, sure.
There you have it folks. One year of CGN in a nutshell. Should sticky this one. :D
