Prefered "Woods Loafing" Rifle

My favorite deer walking rifle is my 16" Marlin 1894 in .44mag. If I'm looking for birds then I'll grab my wife's 20ga Beretta 391 youth gun.

If i'm hunting chickens I take a .22 (my old 342 mossberg, my snotted up 10/22 or more often than not my son's cz scout with slip on limb saver, for added length not recoil!)
Any other time, Tikka t3 in .260 for critters.
All the guys on here make me want to buy my dad's '94 in 38-55 he's trying to sell so I can be cool too!

I don't live close enough to the hunting grounds to be casual about it so every trip out is dead serious and I bring my main rifle, my little 1955 HVA Lightweight 4100 7x57 Mauser.

That'll deal with any black bear, elk, moose, or deer I see, whatever might be open at the time.

Currently my marlin 1894SS in .44. Fall grouse hunting is usually my Ruger 77/22. (MD I've got a 4100 7x57 as well, sweet rifle!)

:) Good choice. Do you have a photo? Here's the 4100 in 30-06 I inherited from my Dad.

Though I haven t recieved it yet but it s on the way my woods loafing gun for deer this year and just about every year after is going to be a Sako Bavarian carbine with mannlicher stock in 308.This is in part do to a Gnut here that posted pics of his Sako Bavarian carbine and once I saw it I had to get one, though the wallet is a bit sore.
For grouse its my winchester 9410 a more fun gun than you can believe.
For rabbits my Blaser r93 in 22mag

I recently picked up an item along 'similar' lines in 270 Win. Perhaps more of a Mannlicher-Schoenauer look with a somewhat North American look/lines to the butt rather than a Bavarian appearance. I've just posted this on another thread.
