150gr TSX in .30-30

Like bullets that are $1.00 and up, each? I cast over 10,000 bullets a year,my lead levels are very low,lower than normal.

That sounds pretty good. Did you get that info from Barnes?
I am going to try the Leverevolution powder - I should be able to safely get 2300 fps out of a 20" barrel. Hodgdon lists 2512 fps out of a 24" barrel with a 150gr Sierra - and that is at a low 34,800 cup.
The velocity would be, according to my ballistics calculator, 1600 fps at 175 yards. A 150 yard zero would give you no more than +/- 2.0" out to 175 yards. Sounds like a nice little combo - I'll give it a try and report back.
Indeed and you are old enough to make your choice. While I think the dangers of lead in meat are overstated, there is never anything wrong with ingesting less lead.
That should be an excellent combo for a bush rifle. Let us know how the bullets pan out in your rifle.

I've looked at these bullets and the distance between the inside and outside of the nose is thin kinda like their "45/70" tsx. It looks like it would open up a low vel. and the big chunk of copper in the shank keeps on pushing. I think the problem with the "45/70" tsx is there isn't a long enough solid shank after the nose opens up, due to powder room etc. Not the case from visaul inspection of the 150 gn FN tsx. Should be an interesting upgrade to the 30-30! 150 grain trajectories with 160-170 grain penetration?

And that's why headshots are better, hardly any fragmentation into the meat I am using to make hamburger. LOL!
I have them. Shot them in my Marlin 30/30. Handloaded MV of 2070fps is the best I could get out of the 20" barrel. I found at 100 yds they didn't expand very much. I think if you used them on live game you would want to shoot them right in the shoulders and hit as much bone as you could to help expansion.
And yes they are designed for the 30/30, flat with a rather large hollow point.
I switched back to the 170 gr Nosler Partition, it always expands. My 2 cents. I use my 30/30 for deer but elk are always an option so like the partition

I tried the powders listed in the Barnes manual with the fastest speeds. Did not try and LeveRevolution. The bullet had just started to expand, opened up maybe 2 or 3mm then stopped. It was almost like a solid. Sort of like the pics they have in their adds of the least amount of expansion, maybe a bit less. Did not get anywhere close to the classic Barnes mushroom. I was thinking of experimenting with them in my 30/06 and bringing them up in velocity in 100fps intervals to check expansion at 100 yards. I have 150 of them. Then I will know at what velocity they are good at. I think at 2600-2700fps they would be a devastating whitetail load. I will add when done with experiment in a week or so. I will use wet newsprint for medium.

I've got an idea, lets see how expensive we can make a 30/30 reload that is used on deer and fired at just over 2000fps, from a levergun with open sights...let's start with a Barnes TSX bullet, what are they $1.50 each, what about the newest, most expensive powder, leverevolution or some such, maybe some of that finnish Velveeta powder. Cases? Gotta use Lapua or Nosler custom, which costs more? We'll use those, are we up to $5/reload yet?
