I received a set of Dlask XB4 and XB3 flash hiders just in time for some long weekend shooting.
As usual, the XB3 and XB4 are expertly constructed and the finish is excellent. I oiled them as soon as I got them and let them sit overnight before shooting them. I recommend this highly for any VZ 58 muzzle device as corrosive ammo will increase the likelihood of rusting. I use G96 on all my muzzle devices and have never had an issue with rusting.
Findings:
- XB3 was the best at reducing flash. It virtually eliminated all flash. Testing in full darkness should be done on this device. The best I could do is later evening against a dark back-drop at the range. Further testing would probably show that it would rival the vortex or blackout in effectiveness, it's that good. Another interesting thing about the XB3 is that it makes a small "ting" sound every time you fire it. Like a tuning fork.
You can hear it in the video. Also, you do not have to index this device in any way. Just screw it on until it reaches the detent that makes it the tightest.
- XB4 was very, very good. There was just a small cone of flash visible on some of the shots. It was very comfortable to shoot. It's actually my favorite, as it still stops virtually all of the flash and looks great. It's the FH my rifle now wears. You do not need to index it.
I didn't have time to properly test either device for accuracy. I was able to keep minute of steel gong at 75 yards off hand with both devices. So POI shift is reasonable, but you would need to put it on paper and make sure that you adjust your optics/sights to the POI. You will get some POI shift with all muzzle devices.
I didn't notice any difference in muzzle blast from any of the flash hiders in the video, they were all the same in terms of blast level and noise.
Click on the photo below for a video. The other flash hiders in the video are crap I've worked on, just for comparison. One is a cone flash hider, and the other a knock-off of something else that I could not find any testing results on, so I built one for myself, just to test it. All testing was done with a CZH2003 with a 12 Inch barrel. As you can see, without a flash hider it's a flashy little beast!
