I received a set of Dlask XB4 and XB3 flash hiders just in time for some long weekend shooting.:dancingbanana:

As usual, the XB3 and XB4 are expertly constructed and the finish is excellent. I oiled them as soon as I got them and let them sit overnight before shooting them. I recommend this highly for any VZ 58 muzzle device as corrosive ammo will increase the likelihood of rusting. I use G96 on all my muzzle devices and have never had an issue with rusting.

Findings:

- XB3 was the best at reducing flash. It virtually eliminated all flash. Testing in full darkness should be done on this device. The best I could do is later evening against a dark back-drop at the range. Further testing would probably show that it would rival the vortex or blackout in effectiveness, it's that good. Another interesting thing about the XB3 is that it makes a small "ting" sound every time you fire it. Like a tuning fork.:) You can hear it in the video. Also, you do not have to index this device in any way. Just screw it on until it reaches the detent that makes it the tightest.

- XB4 was very, very good. There was just a small cone of flash visible on some of the shots. It was very comfortable to shoot. It's actually my favorite, as it still stops virtually all of the flash and looks great. It's the FH my rifle now wears. You do not need to index it.

I didn't have time to properly test either device for accuracy. I was able to keep minute of steel gong at 75 yards off hand with both devices. So POI shift is reasonable, but you would need to put it on paper and make sure that you adjust your optics/sights to the POI. You will get some POI shift with all muzzle devices.

I didn't notice any difference in muzzle blast from any of the flash hiders in the video, they were all the same in terms of blast level and noise.

Click on the photo below for a video. The other flash hiders in the video are crap I've worked on, just for comparison. One is a cone flash hider, and the other a knock-off of something else that I could not find any testing results on, so I built one for myself, just to test it. All testing was done with a CZH2003 with a 12 Inch barrel. As you can see, without a flash hider it's a flashy little beast!

Thank you for your time and posting. Nice work.

PS I am urging you to continue working
on your cone flash hider.
Forget the Bravo 18 knock off, finish your own.

PS2 Nice song ;)

2 things: 1: your camera needs a shell deflector and 2:can you teach me to play the guitar while shooting too? :p Glad to see your home brew muzzles are coming along as well, the cone FH seems to work well.

Thank you Doc. :)

I may totally redesign the cone FH this fall, if I have time. The Bravo 18 was just to satisfy my curiosity, that project is over.

Regarding the song, I absolutely love the opening riff of that version.

LOL, that's a new camera too! :D

The other one I used didn't have a high enough frame rate to catch all the flash.

What an ingenious idea!
Now we can end the debate over wobbley muzzle devieces once and for all thanx to the guy's at Dlask.
Below is a picture review of what I mean.

First of all I want to blame Clobb for making me run out and grab these new bad boy's cuz they looked so cool. But enough of the brown noising lets get to the devil in the details.

The XB3
The same 1 I rock on my M14 and now I get it on my 858. A night shoot video to follow after this weekend to show the flash disapation of these 2 devieces.
And the thing I love the most is even though there is less meat for these muzzle devieces to grab on to they always lock up hard and no more yellow tape needed as that ever couple of mm there is a notch.

Now for the ultra cool looking new muzzle deviece called the XB4
Damm this guy just looks cool and has the same features as the XB3 although a completly different design.

First up for the normal muzzle deviece's is the NEA's flash hidder.
1 Detent notch and fit's snug as a bug on my shorty although has some wiggle on my 2007 858 that I fix with the teflon tape.

Next Dlask's Famous AK style muzzle break.
There are 3 detent notches on this deviece and according to the manufactore it is to compensate for right or left hand twist barrels. Although the threading on both my rifles dosn't allow me to tighten it all the way due to lack of threading left on this device although I do make up the slack again with the yellow teflon tape.

Finnaly the loudest but yet greatly effective muzzle dreak.
This muzzle brake only has 1 detent notch to align but on every rifle I ever placed it on it shows sign's of wiggle. But again a little teflon tape takes up the slack nicley and even though it has lots of thread left on the deviece to tighten more. Although if they do the multi point notch it won't index properly.

And here is a side by side comparison of all the muzzle devieces shown in this pic review.

Hope you all like it!
Night shoot to follow for the flash hidder's and day shoot for the 2 muzzle brakes on a shorty cuz I have yet to see 1 with these brakes.
;)

Thanks for the comparison Satain, looking forward to the night shoot video. Just a question regarding the XB3 and 4, do they provide any braking or compensation? And how is muzzle blast affected? I know FH's and brakes/comps are usually completely different animals, but I'm still curious

Okay as promised here are some vid's shot today up at poco demistrating these muzzle devieces at work. They all used Czech surplus ammo on a CSA 12" except for the Dlask heavy brake was done on a FSN using Norinco ammo. This was done by a fellow CGN member who was doing the shooting for me so I could film it properly but after he left I frogot about to film this 1 brake in action.

First up was the best 1 we tried today. It is the XB3 or should be called the "pinger" cuz every time you shot this flash hidder it would ping in your ear's. Also no noticable visable flash and the noise wasn't loud at all. Just little puff's of smoke and a true pleasure to shoot. :D

Now the XB4 model was noticabley louder although not by much and also notice minnor muzzle flash. But a nice suprise when we noticed minor muzzle redution and less felt recoil. Plus I think it looks cool. ;)

Now the Pheniox. And wow does this live up to it's name. Again I noticed it was louder than the rest of the flash hidders and also it was spitting cool looking flames. But then again I think flames are cool
Again also notice less felt recoil and muzzle rise.

Now for the "deafener". I mean, NEA's version of a heavy muzzle brake. Boy oh boy this rifle can be shot 1 handed. Except make sure that no one is standing to the side and a little behind you while shootin. Damm I didn't know if I was going to go deaf first or I was going to get burned from the flames it was spewing! Defenatly I rank this as 1  muzzle brake. (* meaning good ;)*)

As for the Dlask version of a heavy muzzle brake shown here by our fearless R.O. at poco. It makes my rifle :ninja: approved for 3 gun. Same noticable resualts as the NEA 1. Except the sound is blasted more to the side instead of rewards and same with the flame.

This is the brake that Dlask sells that most AK fans know. Although it should be called the "slapper" because if you do not install this brake properly it will litteraly make the rifle butt stock slap you in the face. Now on this rifle if you place it on the right notch setting muzzle rise and torquing of the rifle is barely noticed. If place in the middle notch then it mutes the muzzle rise. Although try it on the left notch and HELLO! It tells you right away not to have it set like that hence the pause in the recording.

Now in my personal opinoin the "flaming pig" model that Dlask makes for the VZ type rifles works the best for these 12 inch barrel rifles. Not only for flash but more for the taming of felt recoil/muzzle rise and mostly for the re-direction of the sound away from the shooter witch makes shooting much more fun & less flintching.
I hope this video review help's those sitting on the fence about witch muzzle deviece to purchase for there rig. Also when I do the night shoot I will make sure to charge my HD camera this time. Instead of using my crappy cell phone. Plus it has night vision setting too.

What about the Czech military cone flash elim?
Witch one is this?
Got a pic?
I only tested Canadian aftermarket brakes and flash supressor's since most people have easy access to them but if there is some excotic 1 out there...
Well you know me...
I'll find that treasure :pirate:

well, xb4 it is, thanks fellas! always liked the NEA heavy, but due to the sheer volume of bang it produces, maybe not a good idea.

clobb, always love seeing your MB/FH builds, do you have the link for the thread with the two stainless fluted cone and the bravo 18? or some pictures we can ooh and ahh over?
