Well my post lady came a knocking on the door today with the final piece of my moose masher:D. It's a McMillan Ruger Mark II Classic stock with 70% black, 20% Dark gray, 10% light gray. The gun of course is a Ruger 375 Alaskan, topped off with a VX-R 3-9x40 CDS in Warne QWR. Total weight unloaded is 9.1lbs. It's going to be shooting 250gr Barnes TTSX over a charge of H4350. Now all I need is Bullwinkle in the sights and I'll put in a world of hurt on him. October can't come soon enough.

Very nice digger2! Was there any weight savings making the switch?

How are you with the scope ocular that far back?

Hey Geologist, the gun if I remember right is .4lbs lighter than before, but I forgot to weight it again before I made the switch. The gun handles very well now. As for the scope ocular, I haven't personally had any issues as it sits just a little further back as my 35 Whelen with VXIII 2.5-8x36. So far so good I guess. Still have to fine tune everything so I may move it up a little. Here's my 35 Whelen

Sharp looking stocks Digger 2.
How do you find the Warne rings for holding zero when you remove and put back on ?
On my Alaskan the windage shifts slighty, elevation stays the same.
Mine still wears the rubber stock as I have yet to tap the OAP checque for a Mcmillan... :)

Really sweet medium bores Digger2.

Thanks for the compliments geologist. You've got some pretty quick handling/nice rifles there yourself.

Great looking stock.

What was your biggest gripe with the factory stock (or what was the biggest motivation to go with the McMillan) ?

Gorky, I have had an Alaskan before and found that when my hands got a little wet (ie. sweat/rain) the stock became slippery on me. The first one I put on a Boyd's laminate stock and this one I spent the money and bought the McMillan. Very happy with the way things turned out. I don't have tons of guns but the ones I do own have I try and have the better quality items on them. (stocks and glass)

Great Looking gun!!! Hope she serves you well!

Also let me know how you like the 250gr TTSX. I'm looking at loading some in my 375 H&H

I'll keep you posted. Thanks

These are my first set of QWR Warne rings for the Ruger. I have had others for my weaver bases and found they are pretty close, but haven't had a chance to play with this set up though. I could see how the windage shifts though with the torque on the thumb levers. I guess time will tell, I'll see how mine reacts. I would order a McMillan Kevan you won't regret it.

Thanks for the compliments martinbns and bcsteve. I really like how these pair of Rugers turned out. They make a great hunting rifle IMO.

I had great luck with EAW detachable mounts on a .416 RM and my friend has had them on his Voere Titan II in .300 WM for ages. They are a bit pricey, but in my experience they work very well.

Gotta love those Rugers with iron sights, I just bought an M77 RSI International, its the nicest rifle I've ever owned. Beautiful stock you have there. Have a great hunt and enjoy that Ruger.

Perfect DGR rifle right there, does it take long to order in those Warne mounts ?

My mounts had to be ordered from Warne and it took 5-6weeks delivered. (From Warne to Grouse River Outfitters to my door). I called all across Canada to different gun shops looking for these 30mm rings but didn't have any luck so I ended up just having to wait. Well worth the wait for everything so far on this gun.
