Savage Model 12 Long Range Precision in 260 Rem

As of this morning, Ellwood Epps had three available for December delivery. At $921, me and my credit card both heard "the call". So there are now two.

well i call bs on these guys working their gun counter as they told me there are three available and would be delivered in less than a months time.

Where is a good place to go/contact to get one of these in for someone living in Calgary? (PM if you'd prefer)

I agree with TB: There's not much in the way of competition for this rifle from any other manufacturer. Solid setup.

I would suspect the Tikka T3 Sporter in 260 Rem will easliy run with it. If I can get my hands on one, I will buy it in a heartbeat.

:confused::confused::confused:
OK I am now confused. It doesn't make sense. I think Epps folks might be confused too. When did they tell you that? I bought from Paul. Do you remember who you talked too?

don't consider this appropriate for the forum,

Like this? Don't single out a comment when you did the same.

I guess being up late sometimes thoughts wander.
I am interested in a Savage 12 Series as well.
I am at Epps alot myself, so I tend to pick who I talk to.

cheers

i didn't ramble on criticizing an employee of an important board sponsor. put yourself in his position. how would you feel? next time your at the gun counter, tell him who you are and notify him of your commentary. i have no problem backing up what i said or what i was told.

No need to get upset over these minor issues. I have dealt with all of them and like them all, including Paul. When I asked about delivery time, he actually took a few hours to investigate and called me back with December delivery date, so I still believe this must be the correct date. I will call him later and clear this up and post his answer here. When I called the next day to place my order, I specifically asked for Paul to place my order. I figured, he did the work, so he deserves to make the sale.

Now, back to Model 12. Let's start a thread about the best value long range scope to go with this the best value long range rifle! My candidate: Vortex Viper 6-24X50 at $550. Can anybody top that up?

Got mine now but yet to shoot it. Went with a 20 moa rail and Burris signature rings from Jerry. Mounted up a leupold mark 4 from another project. Also from Jerry I have lapua brass, 140 grain Berger target bullets and a modified case. The good news is for those that might want to go this route is that with the bullets seated to touch the lands that there is still extra room in the clip. I've never had that in any other production rifle.

As promised, I called Paul at Ellwood Epps regarding the delivery date. He checked again with their distributor and came back with the October or September delivery date, which is good enough for me. Thanks Paul.

They have 3 on their way and I believe one or two of them are still available.

Well I finally made up some loads with 4831sc, lapua brass, fed 210's and 140 Berger target vld's. Seated .010 off the lands I chronied them at 2560 and got two loads to go under and inch at 200 yards, and they fit in the mag!! To say the least I was happy, especially for about a thousand dollar rifle. Now to fine tune and get started working on long range.

I was waiting for that. I haven't figured out how to make photobucket work with an iPhone. Open to info though. Anyway, I got back to the range today and managed a few more sub inch groups at 200 yards and think I'll play with seating depth a bit see what happens. Hopefully you guys will be as happy with your rigs. Never had a savage before but I think I'll start paying a bit more attention to them.
