New CIL Anschutz 190, Some Questions *56K Warning*

So, I finally found one of my must have rifles, a CIL 190. Bought it off the EE, in very good to excellent condition.

Was going to test drive it today, but we have had gusty winds all day. Maybe later on this week.

Some questions on the sights:

1) There is a small roll pin sticking down out of the sight barrel, which prevents the sight from sliding all the way onto the dovetail. Can I just push the pin up into the barrel? Do I need that pin at all? The last pic above shows the pin and how it is up against the back of the dovetail.

2) Where can I buy inserts for the front sight? The one in there is labeled "Anschutz" and "2.6". I assume the 2.6 is the aperture ID in millimeters, is this correct?

3) Where can I get a new eye cup for the rear sight? The one on there is probably original and is pretty hard, with a small crack in the rubber.

4) What are the sight adjustments, 1/8 MOA, 1/4 MOA, something else? Is there anywhere I can download a manual for the sights? Maybe one for the gun as well?

Peter at Target Shooting Products can supply your sight parts. Just as a heads up, be aware that the Anschutz sights work backwards to what most people would think. If you want the point of impact to move right, turn the adjuster in the direction of the L arrow. If you want the point of impact to move down, turn the adjuster in the direction of the arrow marked H.

I was considering buying that rifle....... ;) But already have one, just not quite as nice.

The pin is there to make sure it goes on the same way every time - leave it alone!:D
The rifle is in pretty nice shape, if you go to the Anschutz website you will find it there, it is their 64 action sporting class rifle.
You can down load everything you need there.
This one looks like it was used as a lightweight match rifle ( hand stop nwith sling attachment)

The L and R on the german sights mean the location of the shot on the target and not the direction you want the shot to go. Shooting to the left, move it in the direction of the L arrow, and it takes you on target. If you are shooting to the right, move it in in direction of the R arrow. Shooting High, move it in the direction of the H arrow. That is just the German way of thinking.

However, for as long as I have been shooting these sights, I remember it by clockwise is down and left.

German sight have "bei" on them. it means "by" where the shot was

If shot was on the left of center - correct in direction "L", Links = by the left.

If shot was on the right of center - correct in direction "R", Rechts = by the right.

If shot was on the high of center - correct in direction "H", Hoch = by high.

If shot was on the low of center - correct in direction "T", Tief = by low.
Tief actually translate into "deep."

Just remember the phrase" Stop!, you low down Thief."

Can also use M18 Anschütz metal inserts, or equivalent from many makers, like Lyman series 20 MJT inserts. Same one that fits Swiss Products Front diopter Assembly.

Or if you same some spare money, get an adjustable front front assembly like this one from Gehmann. I use the 522AN for M18 size on 22lrs and K31s with Swiss products diopters.

Lots of shooters in Canada are very familiar with this rifle.

As for the sights; they adjust exactly the same way American sights do. The word "screwdriver" says it all. Clcokwise goes down; counterclockwise goes up.
To move the sight left, screw in; to move the sight right screw out (unscrew) and like wise for vertical. As a matter of fact, German and American sights adjust exactly the opposite to British (including Australian) or Russian sights (for rifles). For them remember the word "upright" because clockwise moves the sight up or right depending on whether you turn the windage or elevation screw.
They are about 1/4 minute of angle per click.
