What do you think is the most durable/reliable rifle?

How about this as a durable, no-frills, rugged option for most, if not all, conditions around the world:

and you don't need expensive optics, you just pull the trigger and mumble "Insha Allah"

The Mausers didn't freeze up in Finland or Russia. It was the determination of the riflemen, as well as their clothing and and their preparedness, that beat the Germans, not their rifles. :)

Not all of them, no - but there are written accounts of Mausers freezing solid when the brass monkeys started to freeze over, due mostly to the tight tolerances - when the oil started to ice up, the close gaps made it impossible to shift. Germans officers had to issue orders to keep the bolts unlubricated, otherwise they'd ice up within minutes.

The 'crude' Mosin bolts didn't give a rat's arse for frost, ice, blood, mud, sand or the shooter's finger getting caught in the receiver.

Mosin and Mauser are on even terms with durability, but Mosin beats Mauser in reliability. It is a fine line, and it takes extreme conditions, but it was proven on the battlefield.

Mosin wins. ;)
