Hello,

To add to our collection I think we should ad a Glock... just because.
We do not have a .40 yet so figure we should look at the 22, 23 and 35 and interested in some opinions.

Is it worth the extra to get the gen 4 models or stick with the original

At the moment I guess the 35 is our first choice but that could change

Cheers
B

Having shot the Glock .22 (Gen 3), and the S&W M&P in .40.... The Smith is a much nicer pistol, IMHO. I guess the Gen 4 might address some of the Glock's weaknesses.

YMMV!

Have you considered the XDm (not the XD)? Great grips and overall quality and some nice looking options for slide and frame. I also like the M&P, just not quite as much.

Glock

Glock 22.

'Nuff said.

NAA.

If you want a .40, get an M&P. While there are many examples of reliable .40 Glocks out there, your chance of getting a lemon is higher compared to a 9mm 3rd generation Glock made prior to 2011 (Glock has started to put some 4th generation parts in recent production 3rd generation guns).

Don't get an XD; parts are unavailable and they haven't had a very good track record in any trials they have entered.

Some good commentary by subject matter expert can be found here:

If you haven't handled them yet go to your local gun shop and feel them out, glocks are fantastic guns especially if they fit your hand right but lots of people complain about the feel and so a S&W may fit you better.

I love my Gen4 Glock22, I'm still a Beretta guy but G22 is a keeper.

Ps: I never cared for gen3 full size guns

Same here... I wasn't a fan of Glock at all but it was the Gen 4s (despite some of the issues they had at first) that converted me into a Glock liker. It seems those initial kinks have all been worked out as well.

Shot the Glock and I hated it. (On a separate note, my girlfriend loved it) May I suggest the Ruger SR-9? Not quite as much polymer, but a great little piece (In my limited opinion).

Oh yeah MP9 is a nice gun too. I had one when they first came out sold it and regteted it so now i have another one. :D Had the Ruger SR9 as well for a couple of months but liked my Glock and MP more.

Thanks for all the opinions, I figured this would be easier than picking a 45...Apparently not lol

Still like the glock for the collection also looked at a sig today but they did not have an HK or M&P I see who has what at the club this week and decide.

Thanks
B

+1 on the M&P. It really comes down to what feels better to you but generally I think it would be the M&P. If your not used to it the grip angle on the glock will feel weird while the M&P has a more "American" grip angle and is generally more ergonomic and comfortable.
