**I Changed the Title after finding out Ranier is a reseller of Mega Machine Products***
Ooogling the market for a Billet Upper/lower package is really interesting. As much as Id love to support ATR as far as I know they dont offer a billet upper. And I'd really like a matching billet upper to a Billet Lower...and Ive heard it is really cost prohibitive to mill an upper and lower, then try to market them in small numbers.

I see Questar is getting the new Spikes Tactical once they're released...at least they were before the latest export restrictions were put into place:mad:.

So Im wondering why nobody has started importing Ranier Arms? Are they crap?? Their Billet Upper/lower kit has been available for a while, its stamped Multi, so there's no caliber stamping issues...and Its cheaper than Spikes and the rest of their uppers etc. appear very cool...especially the monolithic uppers that use custom barrel nuts, so any ar barrel will do...overall an apparently good product line.

I'd email Daves, but at $250+$410+ ? to get a rainer upper/lower imported it makes more sense to cross my fingers and wait on Questar to (hopefully) get the combo sets in at $680.

If anyone else is interested in one, maybe we can email Daves and make a group purchase so we can divide up the initial export expense?

Rainier Arms is mostly a reseller. The items you reference at the bottom of your post are made by Mega Machine Shop, who make very nice billet stuff. I think Kodiak Outpost imports the regular Mega lowers but I don't know if they've brought in those particular billet sets.

Rainier does have some nice tools though; I bought this from them as I couldn't find one anywhere else: http://www.rainierarms.com/?page=shop/detail&product_id=1089

Wouldn't mind seeing this up here, but probably not enough demand: http://www.rainierarms.com/?page=shop/detail&product_id=1398

any updates on this.
Mega's MA-TEN 308 billet set looks just bloody fantastic. Any dealers importing/carrying this line?

Kodiak Outpost is gone....

No.
To expensive.
Hard enough just to sell simple AR-10 and DPMS.

People will pay $$$ for KAC - LMT .308's, not a no name brand

$600 for a well designed, .308, billet, upper lower combo that I can configure any way that I want and will work with most Armalite, KAC, and DPMS components? Doesn't seem too expensive to me. No name brand? These guys may not be big but they have an excellent reputation.

Someone on here brought in a couple of Mega gator lowers, thought he ordered them through Brownell's but can't find anything listed on their site.

ATR does make a billet upper / lower, it was released at the calgary gun show in april. It is posted on their website. http://www.albertatacticalrifle.com/atrs.html

True. But that's an AR-15 upper/lower, I was interested in the upper/lowers that can do .308, like the MA-TEN from Mega.

Yeah, I absolutely agree. Not too expensive at all. As for no name brand, they are getting very popular in the States, as people are sick of the .308 AR platforms being proprietary compared to the inter-compatibility of the AR-15.

Where do you get $600 from?
It's $623 List

Import fees and taxes take you to over $1000

It's $700+tx just for a Armalite or DPMS upper/lower set.

Rainier sells the set for $595, throw in the stronger dollar and you shave off a couple of more bucks. Throw in $200 for importation and you're still sitting at less than $800 before taxes. I was thinking more in the way of a dealer bringing in a few sets (become a Mega dealer) which would spread out the import fees, it may be possible for them to sell sets between $600 and $700.

Why do people always throw taxes into the mix? Do they get tacked on before purchase price? No, so quit trying to inflate the price, I realize that I have to pay taxes on everything I buy, thank you very much.

Quite a few examples out there of some dealers who've brought stuff in and it didn't automatically add 40% to the retail price.

:agree:
Lets get this done!
$800 to $900 for a rock soild medium length AR15 with all the praise I read about them on the southerner's forums. Sounds like a winner.

If there is enough interest then we would consider doing a shipment of these. We would need 5 to 10 solid orders to make it worthwhile and I would estimate the whole process would take about 4 to 5 months (Mega is quoting 10 week backorder on these items and State Department is running average 10 to 12 weeks for permit approvals).

My guess is you'd be looking at @ $749 to $779 for the MA-TEN upper/lower sets.

Sounds promising. I'm down for that. If you're taking pre-orders, I'm all over it.

I'm in as well for the set (billet AR308 lower/monolithic upper). You might have to import some bolt/carrier groups and barrel extensions as well.....getting next to impossible to get for either armalite or DPMS style up here.
