New to Glock, which one to buy???

Why do you think they have so many generations (it's up to about 984 by now right?) They haven't got it right yet. Get a SIG or a 1911, or better yet a 1911 SIG :nest:

Where do you come up with this sh*t? We're on Generation 4. Minor improvements over the years and some added features. SIG and everyone else has done the same, just without labeling each change as a "generation". They're called improvements not recalls.

Yeah, get a 1911 Sig, 'cause everyone needs a 1911 that even the 1911 experts don't recomend, and that come with safeties that can allow the hammer to drop without the gun actually firing.

But seriously folks, if you're looking at reloading over the long term (which you probably should) 40 brass is amazingly plentiful and dirt cheap (frequently free, if your range hosts the local PD quals) and brass is normally the most expensive part of the equation. 45 brass is expensive, but it does last. Also as mentioned if you decide you want your Glock in 9mm flavour, your conversion is easy and cheap. I'd go with Gen4 - in either M22 or M23 (the 23 is probably the best Glock made IMHO)

I like the gen 3 Glock22 because:

- fits my larger sized hands like a glove, no problems reaching the mag and slide release with ease.
- perfect amount of recoil. I love shooting this thing!
- proven reliability for this generation, although gen4s are getting better as the bugs get worked out
- ammo cost isn't that big of a difference compared to 9mms when buying reloaded ammo

I had a surefire x300 mounted on the rail and have shot over 500+ rounds with it on and not a single FTF or FTE... I think it was the earlier gen3s that had this issue. who knows.

Glock 40

Get the 40 in Olive drab my pic doesn't do it justice! Then get the Hera kits from Blaxsun on the EE:D

My G20sf has a standard rail. I believe the pic rail was optional on a few models...possibly only the G21 though. It didn't really go anywhere on account of the holster issue you're referring to.

Well that makes sense now. I've seen pics of the SF with and without it. Looks kinda fungly with the pic rail IMHO

I am looking G19 or G23 but how come no one carries them?? I am looking for them because they are compact. Anyone knows where can I get them?

It's no problem to find G 17/22.

I am interested in a Glock in 40S&W or 45ACP but know virtually nothing about Glocks other than shooting a few at different times. I understand this has probably been covered before but I find reading through the millions of Glock threads kind of confusing with all the numbers and different generations. I haven't had a lot of time for research either so I figured asking will help get me set in the right direction. So here is my question, out of the two cartridges I am asking about, which is the number or generation to buy and why?

the glock is a great pistol to start...i suggest it as well... my first ever semi auto was a glock 22 rtf2...great gun to shoot...no maintenance what so ever... super reliable....never missed a beat... no problems thru 2000 plus rounds of factory 180 grain and 165 grain ammo types...... i sold it...glock 17 or a 19 is also a beautiful choice... the 19 is very well balanced, even with the aftermarket barrell, i moved on to a glock 20... but unless you reload, stay away from 10mm... ammo is a ##### to find reliably, but i have absolutely no complaints about any glock i owned
