What can be taken from this is that the "Variant" is based on visual-queues only; I too am confused by the poor description of the "Gas-Piston M16." This to me sounds like someone who is not properly trained for the job they are doing.

The ultimate strategy here would be to take the RCMP employee to court to have their "expert" status questioned/discredited; this is easy to do if the employee isn't keeping up to date on technology (or not properly trained). Once a judge in Canada deems that person to no longer be an "expert" in their field, that individuals career is doomed (time to find another job).

A positive spin-off of doing this is that future classifications will be more carefully looked at before being deemed 'Restricted or Prohibited' because it looks scary to the "Expert."

Just a thought ;)

i agree , a gunnut should hold that position , i'd love to take this guys job as senior firearms technologist that would be pretty cool and then i can deem everthing non restricted !!

Depending on the reviews and ergonomics, I could see it selling well to the 3-gun crowd.

Hmm, if they sell for the $799 you suggested in the first post, make that really well.

This decision is very disturbing. As much as I really like the gun, as a restricted firearm it would likley become a safe queen for me as I already have many 12 gages that I don't use now. Thanks for trying Chris!

Aside from the poor grammar, the conclusions are not based on anything. "It was found" is not supported by any evidence. These are (very) simple declarations. What kind of pseudo-science jumps to conclusions without stating the methodology or evidence? Even the test of putting an AR upper on it failed! What exactly is a 'technologist' who is not grounded in science?
