So we go check out ladder stands we left on private property that we have permission to hunt and what do we find . Both stands are missing ,both harnesses are still in the trees. They even stole our camo cloth we had on a ground blind .................@#$%^&*()_ There are signs they may plan to hunt this bush. Can only hope to find them in the bush during season.

How many of you leave your stuff year round ? And how many have it stolen?

I had one stolem.....got permission on new property and found it attached to a tree there. Always best to take down or lock up with cable locks. Brutal reality

Sadly, this is happening more and more these days... There's not a week that goes by, that someone on any one of the hunting boards that I visit doesn't report a similar theft.

These thieves are pretty low on the evolutionary ladder to steal not only an object but to also to rob someone of their time and effort that it took to place it there. Hopefully, one of these days one or more of these skuzbuckets will be caught and exposed for what they are, two-bit crooks and more than likely poachers.

I've had two stolen, both in the same year. Now I take 'em down & hide 'em near the tree... It is a PITA to take 'em down & put them up each time, BUT, they don't grow legs & walk away...

A sad reality & I am surprised you don't hear of vigilante justice when someone gets caught...

Cheers
Jay

i always leave all my stands out and the only problem i've had until this week is finding someone in one a few years back. all are on private property, my own or 4 farms i have permission on all in a row.
this week one of the farmers, the one that uses my 35 acres of feilds told me hydro was in this summer and cleared the tower line and planted grass on it. i was very excited because this tower line is the best spot i hunt so i went out yesterday for a bike ride to check it out. to my supprize my 16' tripod with full blind enclosure (aprox 500-600$ worth) is gone!!!! i'm not happy to say the least. wife won't let me buy another in case the same thing happens and really can't say that i blame her. she now asked me if i could go take my stands down at the end of the season...... big job to say the least between the 6 of us that hunt these farms we have 16 stands that are store bought.

As an eternal optimist, is it possible the someone sees one and assumes it 'abandoned' instead of 'a target'?

I'm new to hunting, to this is a genuine question- I was always under the impression that hunters had at least a basic level of respect 'within the circle'.

Its the same type of scuzz that poach on my property, quite clearly marked all around as "No Hunting" and "No Trespassing". My wife and I rightfully regard it as our personal preserve (after all, we're paying the mortgage) for hunting, fishing, wood chopping, etc.
Not a week goes by when we don't find garbage dumped, hull and cases scattered about, timber cut, and various hippy dog walkers, drunken idiot quadders, and assorted citiots that find it hard to believe that someone actually can own their slice of paradise free from interruption.

I would think it took more than one person to do this. Probably some pre-planning as well. Disgusting!

Never had a stand stolen, but I found a guy in one of my stands one afternoon when I went hunting. Told him to get out and that he was on private property, he said no he wasn't getting out because the owner gave him permission to be there. I said I was the owner and that I was going back to the house to get my chain saw, when I got back he wasn't there...imagine that! Little peckers need to do their homework to see where the private property is they are allowed to hunt!

i know it took more than one person because it too three of us with the winch on the bike to get it up once we put it together four years ago. my wife has been telling me to go and get it and bring it home to our farm since last year when we bought our property and i always told her that it was just to much work and trouble because all the nuts and bolts were rusted and i didn't want to break them and pack it all up and move it a few miles down the road, put it back together and raise it again. i guess someone didn't think it was too much trouble ):

i guess it's not as much trouble when it's free!!!!
