Funny that most compare the 270 wsm to 270 win
But when it comes to the 7mm and 300 they compare it to they're magnum counterparts
instead of the 280 REM and 30-06???
I know it's because the mag already existed, and there' s no reason to change a 300 win for a 300 wsm.
But for the guy that has none I don't see any reason not to buy a wsm either
Anyway the real and the first and the King of short magnum is and forever will be the 308 Win..... the best caliber ever develloped... JP.

So how would shortening the non-magnum 30-06 make the new caliber a short magnum? The 308 is the result to shorten the 30-06, they wanted a shorther case for short action... ring a bell... JP.
So how would shortening the non-magnum 30-06 make the new caliber a short magnum?![]()
Same way the .243 wssm and .223 wssm were derived... It'll be the .308 wssm...![]()
.......is a necked up 223.300whisper?![]()
.......is a necked up 223.
So with the talk of the wsm's coming up quite a bit which of the short mags is the best? In other words is there one short mag that delivers substantially better performance than standard calibers? And of the WSM's that offer a benefit which one is best?
Up to this point I am skeptical of a benefit but I'm looking for someone to convince me of their merit... If it helps a couple rifles I'm looking at would be 257 bob, 338 win mag and maybe some type of 7mm. Reloading isn't a limiting factor here I'm open to rolling my own.

The best short mag yet is the .350RM...![]()
Which select loads in .277 are you referring to that sometimes meet the standard loads?
Also the argument that the wsms have less mag capacity is overrated imo. 3 in the mag and one in the spout is 4. I've never had anything stick around long enough for me to shoot it 4 times. If you're shooting AT something more than 4 times you're doing it wrong. One is all it takes. I have no idea why I would ever need more than 4 and like I said one is usually all it takes.
