just a reminder to everyone to be on your best behaviour this deer season if you are in wmu's 60, 61, 63a, 57, etc. area. along with my doe tag in the mail came a letter stating that the MNR will be conducting surveys this year on chronic waste disease (i'm assuming this is related to the elk hunt as it is in the same zones.). it also stated that "roving crews of MNR biologists and officers will be visiting local known camps to conduct these surveys on harvested deer".
so basically you can bring your deer in to be sampled or the MNR is going to show up at your camp anyways and ask for some samples. they want tissue from the head area. it isn't mandatory but if they're already at your camp, might as well let em check it out i'm positive you get a patch and a sticker or something like that.
