I picked up a stock savage mark 2 and want to dress it up a bit. Where in Canada can a guy buy savage stocks and aftermarked goodies ? I already have a done up 10/22 and there is no where near as much stuff availible for the savages. Post up your Savage pictures !

The only one I did was to get a "better" bolt handle made. Install was pretty simple. I did it my self with a wrench and a small bench vise.

You can order a tacticool direct from Boyds with no problems , here is a thread about when I did my 93FV

These are great rifles - accurate right out of the box. No complaints. The only thing I should have looked into further is getting the heavy barreled version instead.

If you're going to be spending money on replacing the stock, etc, I would pick up the TRR-SR variants right off the bat.

Are these chambers stinger friendly ? I hear some bolt actions are "match grade" which means no stingers, if I'm not correct

If you are asking about my Shilen match barrel, I doubt it. It engraves the bullet ~0.060" into the lands when seating a round. It is a much tighter chamber than the Bentz chamber used on the Shilen 10/22 barrels.

OTOH, I'm not sure why you would buy a match barrel and then shoot stingers out of it. If you are referring to the OEM Savage barrels, I expect they are standard .22LR SAAMI chambers and should be fine with stingers.

What is your most accurate 22 shell and what rifle are you shooting with it.

I've tried a bunch and, believe it or not, in my BTVS american eagle have been pretty good. The odd box is out to lunch but generally good.

Winchester bulk 333 are cheap and good for grouse hunting but too many fliers for punching paper IMHO.

Remington Thunderbolt???? WTF??? Half of them can't even be bothered to go off and out of the ones that do, most are half charges. I'll probably end up throwing them away.

I tried RWS too and they didn't do as well as the american eagle.

cci blazers were good enough more me. Not shooting for accuracy really, just notice the odd time I was shooting paper, the stinger group was noticeable not as small.

I'm interested in a Savage MKII and was wondering if any of the stainless steel barrels are heavy barrel configurations?

Otherwise, I'd just go with an FV...
