ODPL 3-Gun Match

I always look at is as a miracle....

With the sheer amount of work that goes into running a match and the way that MDs and workers have to grab a stage and then run away to fix something it is amazing that they place at all.

True... I've often waited until the end of the day to take my turn and ended up sayin' "F*** it... I'm too tired Lets tear down..."

There's nothing wrong with MD's, RO's, workers shooting a match, but... if you have a hand in designing, setting up etc don't you think you might have a slightly unfair advantage over those who shoot the stages cold?
It's of little consequence really... Unless there's prize money.
As MD/CoF designer I take my score out of the overalls..

Or was that a jab at 7.62?

Noooo.... Never.:D

Not at least until he's don RO'ing at the TH3GC ;)

RO's at TH3GC won't really have any advantage over anyone else as they didn't design the CoF's

The sad truth is setting up a match and running it and shooting it is a DISADVANTGE. Your mind is on so many things the change for a DQ is high and your results will be low on the day.
Anyone who dis agrees with me is welcome to set up a match and prove me wrong.

If you've been in touch and I'm just waiting on your $$ you're in.
No new registrants at this time

What types of long-guns are normally used for this event?

Does everyone use an AR-15 in .223? Would a JR-Carbine 9mm work just as well?

How many shots are fired from a shotgun in a single stage? Are tube-fed guns at a big disadvantage to Valtro and Grizzly-Mag shotguns? What about semi-auto vs pump?

I'd love to hear some discussion about this stuff.

" Google "3 gun nation" and read up "

What was the point of sending me to that website? That is an American website featuring professional factory sponsored shooters, using race-only firearms.

Those shotguns wouldn't even be legal in Canada. So I doubt anyone would be using them at the Guelph club.

1) AR-15s.
2) a) Nope. Lots of 9mm carbines, some bolt-actions, and a handful of SKS'. Bring what you have. b) depends on the stages, as long as the shots are under 100 yards 9mm is good enough. Which they normally are at least around here.
3) a) less than twenty, give or take (and depending on how successful you are a knocking down a steel target). b) I think so... but getting a Valtro to run totally reliably can be and issue. c) semis are a lot faster, until it is time to reload the five-round mag - so it depends on the stage.

All in all, as much as the timer is going it is about your personal best.

Semi-auto shotguns with more than five rounds in the tube. Not legal in Canada.

It only meant to give you an idea of what the match is supposed to be like...
Substitute canada legal firearms and you're GTG...

Not all shooters at these matches use "race" gear... I shoot an out of the box CZ SP-01 a 20"AR and a Benelli M4...

Heavy metal Div. shooters use iron sighted 30cal rifles, 12ga pumps and .45acp pistols...

There's something for everyone

Yeah... but five in the tube one on the lifter and one in the chamber starts you off with seven....
