Hunting 22's ... let's see'em ...

Here are my two critter blasters. Win 190 and Zastava Z-5. Both topped with Vortex's rimfire glass. The 190 with a Crossfire and Z-5 with a Diamondback. Love them both and accurate as hell.

Well I would post a pic but I'm working and therefore not home until a few weeks from now. It's just a standard Marlin 981T with Williams fiber optic sights and a modified trigger(bit of polishing...new spring..didn't think a Timney was worth $100). Thinking of scoping it but I dunno.

The gun I've hunted the most with is my dad's 22lr Marlin something or another(not sure what it is off the top of my head). Killed thousands(10's of thousands?) of gophers with that thing while growing up(amongst other things).

Pretty plain-jane, and 22mag is expensive, but MAN, do those hyper-velocity hollow-points ever deliver a 'thump'!

That's a VERY nice example Timberlord! Most of these surviving Stevens of this model I've seen, appear to have been lost & run over by convoys of logging trucks, then salvaged by Bubba, then exported to Somalia for use by seagoing pirates. ;)

Ruger 10/22, stripped and buffed receiver, 11.5" ER Shaw SS barrel, Leupold FX II 2.5x20mm, Leupold PRW rings (low) Power Custom rail, VQ extended bolt handle and extractor. Butler Creek target stock. (checkering sanded off, buffed finish) Trigger assembly internals have been polished.

My grouse gun!

Please don't post another photo of this rifle...it'll be sure to rattle my "I'll never own another 10/22" feelings. Damn... I like everything about that thing. How does shoot? How fine is the reticle on that scope?

Yeah...that's helping me like you. :) Nice rifle. If I could afford another gun this year, I'd be trying to buy that from you. If you get any photos of that with game, please post them/PM me. I'd love to hear how it does.

I'll keep you posted, the season is early. :D

I believe I bought this rifle from SIR in 1996 or so. I ordered the stainless synthetic and they sent me a walnut deluxe in error. I loved it and kept it. It stayed this way for many years and killed much game in norway house MB and the surrounding area. I moved to Thompson MB in 1999 and at some point ordered a Butler Creek" "feather light target combo" and a bushnell "Trophy" red dot from farmer's supply in WPG. For many years after that was my rifle until 2007:

Then a sling failure made me want to refinish the barrel... and I moved to receiver while the sand paper was out:

In 2008 I grabbed a 11.5" ER Shaw barrel...

Then upgraded barrel, rail, bolt handle, optic and sanded down the stock.

5 months later it is how you see it now...

This rifle has seen 10's of thousands of rounds and killed everything from grouse to feral dog. As it stands, it is a $1000 rifle. Worth much more to me.
