alright thanks, i was looking for a inexpensive 30/06 but these are just as much as a brand new 700
Don't kid yourself, the milsurps are much better built than a brand new 700. A bigger question is ammo, unless you reload any of the centerfires are around $1/round (or more) and the cost will quickly eclipse the cost of the rifle.

, commercial .30-06 is far less expensive than commercial .303....
Buy a Stevens 200 in 30-06 for less money than a milsurp and have a brand new rifle, mount a scope on it, customize the stock, paint it and not worry about defacing a surplus rifle and its history.
My first 30-06 was a semi sporterized 03-A3 just as pictured below and I still have my NRA "remodeling" booklet
