My recently purchased refurb 49 sks is shooting to the left... for more than obvious reasons.;)
I maxed out the front sight to the left and is still printing to the left.
I think the rifle was run over by a truck or something back in Russia, and the barrel seems to be bent to the left obviously. You can see it when you look down the barrel.

Its been painted black but shes beautiful, and I love it for its reasonable accuracy and rarity with the 4 spike bayonette.

How could I bend the barrel to the right(just a bit) with out f,ing it up?.

seriously ????

dude, just dump the gun and buy another...

i've heard of people straightening shotgun barrels...but jeez, those are just wall hangers after that

i wouldn't fire anything outa that...

Come on....you really had to mention that ???? Hang it and buy another one for shooting.

I cant just dump it, I just bought it, and want to keep it... all it needs is a tweek to the right. Whats the best way of doing it without spending 50 bucks or more to have a gun smith do it.?.

All you need is a 50 ton press, a set of v-blocks, a dial indicator and a lot of practice...or like everyone else says, buy a new one.

Returning is not an option, these guns are hard to find and I like it.
It shoots ok for what it is.

You never know what kind of worse fud I may get in return? if any...lol.
Lay it between two 2x4's and smack it with a non-rebound hammer....lol.:)

just put a tapco stock on it... make the package complete

it'll shoot like a turd ... and it'll look like a turd

i'd just use it for parts... those guns are so cheep, i wouldn't worry bout it.. just get another and have fun... safe fun !

I would be very leery about trying to straighten that barrel myself. I say that because if i screwed it up and beat a slight choke point into the inside of the barrel i would be afraid the bullet would get hung up and cause a barrel obstruction. Then it goes ugly from there. That is in my mind the worst case scenario. I would say this would be a smith's job if you want to keep the rifle. Besides, they have better tools than me!

Bad luck on the bent barrel by the way. Maybe you should just bub the rifle with an optic and just forgo the iron sights all together?

As a machinist I can say this takes some skill and a LOT if time and patience. I find straghtening quite stressfull and tedious to do myself so I don't do it anyore.

Its a '49, its worth spending the money to make it right.

And for some of you other apparent dummies, its a '49, not some regular junker you can buy anywhere.

an xtra 25 bucks for a 49 at westrifle

your right...its really worth paying biggggggg bucks for it .... maybe even a rebarrel

think about it........ thiiiiiink deeply...... and contemplate
