Getting started in IDPA in ontario

Can you point me in the direction to find info on this NSO course on the 22nd? Is this necessary to shoot IDPA? How long is it?

The course on the 22nd is here...

http://www.eesa.ca/

To shoot IDPA you need the IDPA NSO(New Shooter Orientation) course or an IPSC Black Badge, CDP or similar.

Its not necessary to shoot IDPA, but most clubs won't let you compete unless your holster certified.

The course will run all day. 9-5 with lunch included. Cost is $10

Send a PM to M&P40 to register.

I may be wrong but I believe it used to not be necessary but it is now as per IDPA HQ.

I believe you are wrong :)

I don't think IDPA HQ would ever make the NSO course mandatory, US gun culture seems to be that if you've got a holster, then you're holster qualified. Holster certification in general seems to be a Canadian thing...at least in North America

Such a requirement isn't in the rule addendum or rule book, and I haven't seen any announcements on IDPAs website.

lol! I'm not editing my post, I got you on record!

Off topic, but AFAIK holster requirements are purely a club thing (unless we start talking IPSC). Probably someone somewhere had some idea that holster certs mean the shooter has a reasonable level of safety.

As you can tell, I'm not in favour of them, but must comply with gun club requirements.
